    Very cool thread...awesome racing Oldsmobiles!

Here's mine, 1965 Olds F-85 dirt track racer, photo from 1993. We've run this car every season from 1990 until this year....it's in dire need of a new body skin currently. Someday we'll restore to original race car condition.

    Another shot...earlier, 1990

it's sad to think so many young people now think Olds is a grandmas car, they think Nova's and Camaros and mustangs. So much history and some of the baddest fire breathing big blocks ever to live. What happened?

they never should have phased out Olds, of course the bean counters at GM didn't live in the real world anyway, Now that there's the new high performance muscle cars coming out, they should have brought back the Cutlass with it's OWN engine, not something thrown in from the rest of the line. When they slap different car bodies on the same chassis, you lose that loyalty, Everyone I knew who had one in the day was very proud to have had those motors under the hood, they wouldn't be caught dead in anything else. Thank you so much for this thread, such a shame they killed one of the proudest American cars out there

I know I have posted these pics before, but I wanted to hold back the Cutlasses.
She cracked the 13s, with a blown head gasket.
Its stronger now , but I haven't been back to the track

Looking at this makes me sad. Not only is Olds gone, but my local dealer in Culver City, CA finally closed their doors after more than 60 years. I used to like to look at the Olds racing pictures on the walls of the parts department while they worked on my late model Chevy. Alberson Olds, they had a 4 story rocket outside the show room. They used to race drag cars, and the Mexican Road Race back in the 50s and 60s

Does anyone have any photos of Bud Moore when he was wrenching on Olds? before he went to the Hudson Hornet? I was very suprised to see him Inducted into the Nascar hall of fame, he deserved it thats for sure, not everyone who was a legend was a driver. One of the best wrenches ever to work on a race car. I spotted him in the audience before the nominations, and it blew everyone away he got picked, still remembers everything even at his age. [IMG]

Keith still owns the car (it is a '50) and restored it recently.
