I'm talkin' about good old Mother Natures' finest, kind of finish. The look that comes naturally over time...a LONG time. No faux finishes...no rust buckets or rat rods allowed...and no drama. Enjoy, and add your own... *all images stolen from the best sites...dillard...lindsay...leonard...hamb, etc.
How about some two wheeled crap.......my "barn find" HD45, and my "built from the scrap heap" Triumph 650...
I've tried to buy this car since 1974,... these are the last pictures of it in it's original condition,... the chassis has been stripped and totally rebuilt, and the body has been media blasted (I tried to talk him out of it),... (there are only two Deuce coupes that drive me nuts, and this is one of them) and of course you have all seen that Blue Roadster
lol! so many cars in need of paint jobs! kidding, i like most of them but would still want to paint them if they were mine! drd57 your car is my favorite on pictured!
I really like this one Here's another one I like the paint on. Not sure if it's real or faked but I liked it.
my AD truck: and I do like the term "patina", so much so it might just be the custom tag I get for the truck on Wednesday.
There's a big difference in building a nice car and having it get weathered by years of USE.....and building a fresh car with an old, weathered body...
what's the difference? resurrecting the dead is as traditional as you can get... ex-little old lady car... rescued from the crusher..really!
"The "new" ones with the weathered bodies just look unfinished...the old ones with rusted bodies look like they need to be restored. Just my two cents...which ain't worth much nowadays..." That was my original thought when I looked at this thread...but as more and more cars (and trucks) were added my opinion started to change. I can appreciate the worn look...but I still can't appreciate the rat rod rusty dented look!
Here's mine- I own all this exept the 40 pickup is my brothers, and the green 37 pickup was mine-now my Dad's. The 46 pickup went to a Hamber in England, and the "dusty" 37 pickup is mine, but for sale. Man I love "OLD" old cars.
Sure are some nice looking rides! Ah, the beauty of personal preference. Patina? To me it's rusty metal and worn paint! I'm with you Damnfingers and Duration. In my part of the world (Eastern Canada) if we leave old metal uncovered... it's called rusty, unusable, used-to-be-a car-part junk after about 2 inspections. So much salt in the air here. Ya, ok. I'm a little jealous that you can leave 'em that way. But after running a paint shop for years I still see them as needin' to be "fixed". I guess that's why I'm workin so hard to get the rust off on the panels for my 30 pickup... so I can keep it for a long while. I'll post picks after I get some of that patina off of the pieces.
