Old WCFB Carter Carb question

  1. what were the common CFM ratings of the old WCFBs, like were on the Chevy dual quads in '57 '58 '59????

    These carbs were close to 385 cfm if I recall correctly.

    Somewhere I read they're 390.

  4. Thanks guys- Vance-I have rebuilt them many times in the ol days...they are a good old carb.
    I was mainly curious as to their actual size in CFM's...there was really nothing better on a 283 than one...I see now that the 600CFM's we run on a stocke 283 now is a step backwards!
    So ,in effect- a dual quad set in '57 was 780-CFMs....those little 270 HP 283s actually handled a load of fuel ,I guess!
     

  5. Yeah! I ran a 650 holley on the 57 371 in my 56 Olds, when I sold the car I told the kid he couldn't have the Holley. I rebuilt the wcfb and turned the Olds in to a tire fryer, so much fun I probably would have never sold it
