what were the common CFM ratings of the old WCFBs, like were on the Chevy dual quads in '57 '58 '59????
Somewhere I read they're 390. Kenny, I have a CD copy of an owner's manual/rebuild manual if you want it. PM me. Vance
Thanks guys- Vance-I have rebuilt them many times in the ol days...they are a good old carb. I was mainly curious as to their actual size in CFM's...there was really nothing better on a 283 than one...I see now that the 600CFM's we run on a stocke 283 now is a step backwards! So ,in effect- a dual quad set in '57 was 780-CFMs....those little 270 HP 283s actually handled a load of fuel ,I guess!
Yeah! I ran a 650 holley on the 57 371 in my 56 Olds, when I sold the car I told the kid he couldn't have the Holley. I rebuilt the wcfb and turned the Olds in to a tire fryer, so much fun I probably would have never sold it
