Lets get back to the OPs intent: "How about us old race car guys post some pics of cars they owned, drove or crewed on." When you post tell us what your involvement was on the car. Plenty of other threads for pics found online/taken at shows.

Kool car/story. Your D/Gas car reminded me of my 57 Chevy, first car owned 1964, 16 years old, fond memories of car, I installed 348/Tri-carb, 3 speed manual, 4:11, street slicks. Was doing pretty good street racing, so I went to Union Grove drag strip, had to come back with a notarized slip signed by my Mom so I could race as I was only 16. Lesson #1@ Tech inspection gave me a list of things I needed to add for safety, but they did let me run that day, but come back with corrections as requested #2 put me in D gas as I had removed front bumper and engine not stock to a 57, #3 got my hat handed to me big time as they were real race cars in D/Gas class owned by adults with knowledge/budget far surpassing me at that time. All in all an interesting educational fun memory. This was one of my first experience's regarding "Big Fish, Small Pond" Small Fish, Big Pond" In all of my life, business, racing hobby, car hobby, the "Pond" size figures in, IMO. The first Big car show I attended (Back to 50's) came home and told wife, had a great time, never going to be a Big Dog in car hobby as the number of quality cars amazed me, still does. The hobby has served me well and will to my end, the people/friends you make are A-1, consider myself Lucky to be involved and like all old car guys, racers, "Legend in my own mind" LOL
