    T. Hilton, here's a few shot you might enjoy. The Hilton family cars from the 2007 NHRR at National Trail during the Cacklefest.

    Cool!
My little brother owned "Green Horn" in the 80's
I think he owned it for 6-8 years
He put it on the Street
Here's a picture of him and me racing at the "Old Time Drags" at Edgewater Drag strip in the 80's
I'm the one in the 32 3 window

    Thanks for the Picture!
I don't think my little brother has this one

The Greenhorn was one of my favoite cars that raced at Sidney way back when. There's some fellow over in PA that I think owns it now. I saw it at the Gasser Reunion in Thompson a few times and it broke my heart. It's now red and has some blown motor in it. I saw it about three years in a row and the poor thing couldn't make a good pass any of the years I saw it. I so wish they'd put a small block back in it and make it respectible.

I am trichops brother.I bought the Greenhorn from a friend of the Fetters. He never raced the car after buying it from them.It still had the 5,13 gear in it but no motor or trans when i got it.I ran a 350 and 4 spd.It still had the wheels on it that are in the picture.Funny story about the car. They made them put front brakes on the car sometime when they were racing it.I was told they were aluminum brakes they had made. The front brakes were not on the car when i got it.When i took off the master cylinder [57 chevy style] it had a brake line going into the side of the cylinder going to the front brakes. They had taped into the side of the cylinder but not gone through in the cylinder bore.It was just made to look like the front brakes would work. I will try to get a photo scanned of it when i first brought it home.

I remember something like that happened in 1974 (SpringNationals). Can't recall if it was Saturday or Sunday, but a streaker ran across the track that year!

Is anything remaining of the old Pence strip ? I raced there one time,I remember it had walls on each side.It was like driving in a drainage ditch.

The place has been a gravel pit for years. There's still a little of the grandstand and the cross over bridge that was at the head of the staging lanes. Vines now form a curtian from the bridge to the ground. Yeah, the track was like a big long trench. You had to come down a slight hill from the staging lanes to the starting line, I think there's going to be a reunion for the the old Sidney track and the track at Kettlersville this coming November in Botkins, OH. A friend is trying to organize one. He said there's been quite a bit of interest so far. Sorry to butt in on this thread. Hope it's ok. The old NTR pictures are really cool and kinda put a tear in the corner of my eye once and awhile. Please keep them coming, I hope you haven't run out yet. I have some old pictures from the Springnationals but they're not quite as old.

Well, I'm back from Vegas poorer, fatter, and maybe still just a little hung over. But enough about me, let's get back to the cars.

I heard something about a big get together out at the track sometime towards the end of may. 45th anniversary maybe? Not real sure on the details but I'll post more when I get some.

Check it out: The Champion Speed Shop car from San Francisco. Last I heard, Champion is the current home of the World's Fastest Small-Block Chevy digger (At least that is what my T-Shirt says)
