Well put. Thanks Annette.
Found this cool pic on another forum.
Lived in Pasadena in the early 50's and got to see the Mickey Mouse Club. Wish I still had the mouse ear hat they gave me. Always had a bit of a crush on Annette. Beautiful and classy all her life. Not many people like her anymore.
Thanks for the memories Annette. May you rest in peace.
Didn't know about the MS. Glad to know that part is over for her. Class lady.
Add me to the 1st crush crowd. I remember going back to school after summer vacation in grade school & noticing all the girls that suddenly had boobs. Couldn't hold a candle to Annette though.
I still love watching all the old beach and surfing movies. Annette and Gidget.. yes please! Of course back then we were also watching Ann Margaret and Sophia Lauren.. Ahhh good times.. but yes.. Annette was first.
they don't make 'em like her anymore, we're stuck with lindsay lohan !
"THIS" tv channel is showing 4 movies today... Bikini Beach and Thunder Alley are 2 that I know of... Not sure about the other 2 flicks...
Check your local listings....
I just came across Thunder Alley while surfing,it came out in March of '67 I got out of active duty in the Army the end of March '67 so I guess I missed it here's a link: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0062365/
Another ICON of my youth gone.
Not forgotten though class to the end. Seems sad yet glad she suffers no more. Imagine the joy in Heaven at her arrival. RIP
I just watched that flick..What did you think of the Thunder Charger made by George Barris ???
In her biography "A Dream is a Wish your heart makes" she says Christmas 1958 her folks got her a white 57 T-bird. Her car loving mechanic dad thought it was too plain, so took it to Barris who painted it with 40 coats of candy purple and upholstered with purple tuck and roll.
In '56 or '57 there was a rumor that Annette had been killed in a Roller Coaster accident.....I was either 10 or 11......it was a very sad Summer for me. Imagine the joy when I found out it wasn't true! Classy Lady......I'm glad she didn't disolve before our eyes like so many others of that era......Centurion9
Agree---now we have Lady Gaga, Byonce, ad nauseum. Pretty much no talent anymore------
So many of the people we grew up idolizing are leaving us........Norm, Dick Clark and Annette, just to name a few.
I watched a video that her husband did and wish I hadn't. It was sickening to see how she was at the end. Not how I want to remember her
The old entertainers seem to be dropping like flys, but life goes on.
