Art & Inspiration Old Garage and wrecker pictures

This one is from a friend here in Portugal.

 

I posted this one and have had it a couple years now,... I always thought it was a 1930 Cadillac with 1933 LaSalle fenders, it belonged to a "Auto body & welding Co.",...... maybe showing off there work.

 

This was a 26 Packard that was made into a wrecker that I found in a junk yard.

Been doing some looking on the web, haven't pinned down the wheels yet but the doors, front roof, visor, hood, grille and headlights are '31-'32 LaSalle. The Cadillac had slightly different body lines on the cowl and door but used the same hood and grille. The fenders are '33 LaSalle. The rear coach work reminds me of a 30's flower car from a funeral home. Don't suppose it's a V-16 do you?

This is cool. Restored by the Lemay Car Museum. Check the 56 chev tail Lamps.

 

I remember NATES. It was on the north side of downtown Minneapolis. He had a lot of vintage parts and was not bashful to charge.

Charlie's Texaco, US Routes 6&44, Manchester Green, Ct, 1957. Gramps on the sedan delivery, my Pops on the Chevy wrecker.

Torn down in 1978. Charlie's still in business. Pops at work today.
Trying to track down a huge portfolio of original Ernest Holmes promo photos and brochures from 40's-50's-60's. It will be a scan bonanza if I can borrow it.

This is my Grandfather's (my Dad's father) garage in Duparquette Quebec in the mid to late thirties-Beausoleil's Garage. He was a busy guy there, he hauled wood to the gold mines in stake trucks and eventually ran the first truck snow plow in the community.
That big guy in the suit is him and my grandmother is sitting on the staircase banister.


After the war they came back to their home town-Penetanguishene Ontario and built this building-(this is as it sits now under new ownership). The family pulled the nails from the town's old outdoor skating rink, that had burned down five years earlier, and used them to build this garage. They sold many different makes of cars and tractors over the years here. They also had a garage in the neighboring town, Midland, where my dad sold brand new 57 Chevys.





This is a sketch I did of how I remembered the garage to be when I was a kid--we spent a lot of time in that junk yard! Beausoleil Motors LTD--VW dealership.










The above pics are pieces from the garage that still exists in Dad's basement!
