I think that we need a group of us over 70 to have our own site , need tri folcals hearing aids messing up the posting of threads, ( I am the worst ) and not remembering why we are doing this. Just to ramble on like we knew what we are doing. John

I'm just happy that old farts are now considered over 70, I still have 10 more years before I'm one.

Wow! This is great! Next time my wife calls me an old fart--and it'll be sometime today, I guarantee you--I can tell her authoritatively that I am not. Still got YEARS to go. Thanks, H.A.M.B.ers!

Whew, finally something we are "too young" for Bruce. 7 more years for me before I click that milestone off.

At least so far I still have all my original parts with no major overhauls.

  17. Hey, its great that people in their 70s use computers.I can remember when being in your 70s was considered too old to do anything but sit and whittle on a park bench.Maybe technology is keeping us all young..

Crap! When I was 15 I wanted to be 16 so that I could get my license to drive! When I was 16, I wanted to be 18 so that I could go into the bars in NY legally, although I didn't drink. When I was 18 I wanted to be 21, although I can't remember why!

Now that I'm 66 I want to be 70 so that I can join all you old farts. But, I don't know why as memory is the first thing to go - or so I'm told...

Hey, are you guys sure that you're OLD ENOUGH to post here on the HAMB?

Seriously though, we need to hear from those of all experience levels, it helps us to not get too narrow a view of the subject. If you gents start a senior edition of the HAMB I wonder where the young guns will find the answers to their questions?

I'm 72, and a proud member of the Old Farts Social Group here on H.A.M.B. and also a member of Friends of the Sock Fuckers Car Club, a closely knit group that limits their membership, hence the "Friends" group. They are about the wildest, most irreverent and rowdy bunch of guys and gals, about half my age for most of them, and I often join them for HAMB and GRITS and ocassional road trips. Hanging out with them and trying to keep up with them helps keep me young at heart, IMO.
So far I've only met one of the Old Farts group personally, but I visit the site at least twice a day, as I also do the F of SFCC.
Old Farts has a manifesto written on their social group site here on HAMB that outlines their creed and culture. Agreement is all that's needed to join up, not any specific age.
So you guys still under the 70 mark can't get out of being called an old fart merely by being less than 70!

I don't use the computer for anything but HAMBing and email.
I write letters by hand with a quill pen, I do my books with a 50's adding machine and I make my own beer.
    What is wrong with whittling?
Last week I saw Junior Samples on Hee Haw whittle a pile of shavings as high as him in less than 10 minutes.
