What a super cool thread!
Couple more shots, with a bump,....
BTT don't let this one die!
I hope this qualifies. I know H.A.M.B. tries to keep subjects to mid 60's. I have a photobucket album of pics from Detroit Autorama in 1972. They were probably taken with a 110 instamatic (do you remember them?) so the quality pretty poor.

Ah yes,... The Kodak pocket camera,... with the 4 sided flash cube,.... Sure !
Well with the 60th. Autorama right around the corner,.. I thought we would bump this,... and see what else people have tucked away in there photo albums,.......
Bump,.... quit procrastinating guys,.... Scan those old pictures, and post them !!
Funny, you have exactly 12 pictures. You took a whole 12 shot roll of film. That was the old days for sure. If you wanted more, you had to find a dark place to replace the roll of film and THEN take 12 more.
I went to the Autorama, and 6 museums last weekend and took over 700 pictures and wore out 10 batteries.
No wonder there are so few photos of the old days.
The photos are posted in my signature
Did anybody notice Frank Macks Roadster in the background of this picture ?
The Buntline Special,...
Here's a pic for the boys from South Lyon, Mi
an early shot of Elwood Peterson's Blue Goose
that has been in many autoramas.
Also an early autorama pic of Paul Hatton doin'
what he does best!
Wow, thanks for the picture of Paul Hatton. I used to hang around at Pete's Customs on Fenkel and that was where Paul did his magic. Just like Bill Hines, he never was without his cigar.
I was going to send him this picture, but I bet Dave Jenkins has already sent it.
have a nice book covering all the years.....kinda nice coffee table piece...
Dave,... Great pictures !,... I have known Paul and Elwood for several decades. Elwood and I are in the same MHRA club. If you have any more pictures,.. please feel free to post them.
Awesome photos Dave!!
Here's a few at random, what would you
like to see? rods? customs??
57 belair Both_ what ever you have and I suspect you have a lot.
I wanna see them all I hope you have many more where these came from!!!
Were all these taken on the same show Dave?
Is that gold ford an early version of Larry Ernst's 1952 Ford by Clarkaiser?
it looks very much like an early version of it without the fenderskirts...but I have never heard about such a version??
More photos here:
Rik just spotted that the license plate read 64..so it must have been a later version I wonder who the current owner was...
I was sitting in class in high school when that 52 Ford of Larry Ernst drove by and I watched it from the window in class. It was the dead of winter and the exhausts were bubbling steam and I have that memory etched in my brain. I was 16 then and I am 72 now. It seems like yesterday.
Awesome, it must have looked great cruising by in the winter.
Back in the mid and early sixties South Lyons racing team always showed up at Onondaga dragway every Sunday.
OK I am in awe have been to many autoramas since about 1960 61 and am sure I have some pics. Will look but as I remember my problem was always people walking in to frame so have some nice butt shots and lots of hair cut closeups. Earlier there was a reference to Mayenscheins Phaeton built about 56 last I knew a guy named Spike McMurtie south of Jackson Mi. owned it it was still a beautiful car it was featured in one of the magazines along with spikes I believe 48 ford coupe they used an original copy of an article from I believe Hot Rod to show how little that car changed. Mayenshein was a genius I believe he was killed fairly young but what a craftsman!
have a few more but think they may be the armory on 8 mile.
The A Brothers
Everything Dave......... You are a Treasure that needs more exposure here.......Great photos as usual .........Centurion9
Elwood has a cool collection!
Harms way, If ya see or talk to Elwood, Tell him "Steve, that hauled the Blue Goose to Bowling Green, says hello"...
Every one, if it's not to much trouble,....
I have been looking for a friends car from 1957 era. Friends name was Gene Custer and the car was a 1950 Ford Convertible semi custom Coral pearl color with a white top.
