I have a few bottles but don't really collect them. I have a small Coke with a patent date of Dec. 25, 1923 on it and this beer bottle. 20190426_123149.jpg

I only have 4 bottles in my "collection" a round bottom beer bottle was told its 1870's,found it under a rail road bridge that I was clearing trees from. A medicine bottle with cocaine embossed in it in the eves of my house in Maine whan I gutted and restored. and 2 Moxie soda bottles with heavy embossing and the paper labels still on them from the loft of my barn dated 1937 on labels.Yeah I know not much but still pretty cool.

  5. I have a round bottom bottle and could never figure out why they made them like that. I figured it was designed to go into a holder of some sort. I was later told that the reason was so that the liquid would keep the cork wet (and not shrink) to prevent the contents from going bad. Like the way they store wine bottles.

I was told the kick up bottom was structural to keep the bottle from exploding if the contents expanded

I was told it was so the train passengers couldn't put it down,Was also told to look for them about 1/4 to 1/2 miles out from train stations as passengers finished then they just tossed the bottles.
