WoW! The 4.6L V-8 in my '05 Convertible has 3 valves per cylinder.. I love how history tends to repeat it's self...
At the shop where I do work on my cars Teddy put a Cammer motor I had in an ORIGINAL-Black '57 Ford Custom that was at the Moonshine festival a few years ago. Teddy Kempghens is in Tom Cotters latest book "Corvette in the Barn" as they did Billy Burkes Belly Tanker that is one of the chapters. I have been trying to get the money together to buy a '63 FALCON with a 2x4 Cammer that actually "hooks-up"!Also know of a '67 Fastback Mustang running one ...again its $$$! Included some shots of a PILE of parts that has everything to build 3 Cammers and 10 427 blocks PLUS a bunch of Boss 429 stuff! Bad picture of the Falcon and some of "Waynes Toys".
Here is a couple. The Starliner was at Goodguys in Scottsdale....I was fortunate enough to go for a ride in it ! The Dual Overhead Cam Ford belonged to my brother Dan, he was planning on building a track roadster and putting it in it. Before you start to wonder about the exhaust, the heads would switch from side to side allowing the exhaust to exit in the downward position.
I would GLADLY settle for a Genesis 427 block and a pair of Dove high-risers to replace the 428 in my Falcon.
Falcongeorge, why settle for a wedge, whan Cammer stuff is coming out of the wood work?? haha (Might need to rob a bank, if they have any money!)
Here's one in a T-bird. Another even nicer than this one (unfortunately no pic) is owned by a fellow name Mike Seelbinder down in Vancouver, Wa. Unfortunately, if true, I was told at SEMA that he had a serious accident in it and was badly hurt. Maybe one of the Vancouver guys will see this and confirm one way or the other.
Now that does not suprise me. I wish I could remember the year. 1985 or 86 I think is when I saw the Coupe. I do know he carried the car around on a 34 Ford truck with a ramp bed and both the car and truck were red. Thanks for the info!
I know from personal experience here at the shop that they run about $47,000.00 with Hilborn Stack Injection. Just say'n.
Yes it is true Mike did wreck the car. He was hurt in the accident. He is lucky to be alive, the car is bad.
Snapped this at a Dearborn show a few years back. Thought I'd share this little number someone stuck in their watercraft.
This is an Art Chrisman built SOHC. Notice, no ignition wires and the custom valve covers. This F-100 sold for over 400K a few years ago at Joe's auction. This truck was featured a couple of times in the RJ. Absolutely spectacular!
Ah, yes...but does your 4.6 have a magnesium block and heads? Interesting side note on the Calliope. While it was a 427, it was actually the first engine ever to use the "Lima" architecture (429-460), and the bore and stroke were unique. It also had 2 cams IN THE BLOCK, with the intake and exhaust cams being one on top of the other in pretty much the normal location. And notice the fuel injection was built into the heads. No options for anything other than stacks. Ford was trying hard with this one...
Hey you Colorado guys, there was a fella I think that lived around the Denver area that had a cammer in a 65 or 6 Fastback. Think his name was Bob Becker maybe. Also had a Pantera and maybe even a Mangusta. Just wondered if that car is still around. I tell you what, I've done some off the wall things before but I've got a pretty damned nice 69 SCJ Mach 1 in the garage that I'd trade for a cammer, plus a little cash to help me buy some other goodies.
I noticed the Batten heads sticker on it... I worked for them in the early 90's doing some prototype work on crankshafts....
