For all you do for to share your knowledge with us, Bruce. If the HAMB would be willing to act as an escrow account for the funds, I'll start the kitty with ten bucks.

I'm in. Let us know where to send the funds. Small payback for what he does for us.

Looks like we're off to a pretty good start on that camera, Bruce :)
UnionVilleHaunt, any chance you'd be willing to volunteer to help Bruce pick something out?

I'm in for 10 where do we need to send it?

I'd suggest getting one that uses an SD card as it allows one to buy a lot of memory for a low cost.

Well, if Bruce has a paypal account, we could do it that way, but he hasn't chimed in yet. I'm hoping we hear something from Ryan about letting us send it to the HAMB so everybody knows this is on the up and up.

  19. Hell, Ryan is probably busy enough already. Let's just do this.

I'd be glad to accept the $$, buy & ship the camera, & if anything is left over it could be donated to the HAMB or HAMBANDY. From what I see above, there is about $120 pledged & some that have interest in helping Bruce figure out how to use the camera.

To keep things totally transparent, I can update daily who has donated and how much they donated. Be sure to include your HAMB screen name in the subject line.

I write this knowing I am about to get completely flamed for my ignorance, but who is Bruce Lancaster?
    Now let the beatings commence.

Bruce is a graphix-challenged friend of the HAMB who has shared his knowledge of old cars in close to 11,000 posts last time I checked.

I think you guys have the money covered, but I'll send him a new (unopened) 2GB SanDisk SD card to go with the new camera.
Just let me know where to post it (pm me directly).
    cheers

  30. Just a thought ...

A digital point & shoot camera would be great for us to get for Bruce ... BUT what I think he really needs is a nice flatbed scanner (& perhaps an external HDD to hold all the images).

Bruce is a wealth of knowledge here on the H.A.M.B. ... and I've noticed that he quite often refers to his extensive library of Automotive publications ... How great would it be if he could post illustrations, etc. along with his vast knowledge & insights?

... and I agree with Dreadman, fuel pump, & Omega ... a Canon PowerShot is the way to go ... my 78 year old mother-in-law works my wife's A590 IS just fine! ... Amazon has the Canon PowerShot A590 IS for only $150.00 (with FREE shipping)!
