I bought mine in a three car collection. Along with a 73 mustang convertible 62k original miles and a 68 Buick Lesabre convertible. Both the other car's in way better condition than the Ford. Paid 19.5k and I'd value the ford coupe as the least. I'd agree with the previous statements of around 4k~.
I've never understood why people say this in these threads. My guess is that "Brad Ley" is looking to buy (maybe sell) the car and wants to get ideas.
Then maybe “Brad Ley” Should provide more information. Like the correct year. And something more than “rock solid” as a description. Something along the lines of: I’m looking to buy this “2 door sedan” and the owner say it has “blah blah blah”. Or, I’m looking to sell this 2 door sedan and it has “blah blah blah”. But whatever. Regardless he will get wildly different and entirely useless prices based on nothing.
I'm looking at buying this what I was told is a 29 Ford, that is rock solid. Engine Turns over. Owner doesn't know much, here are some pictures. What do you think it's worth? I kind of see the same results...
I'm no expert, but he said original (but I think it's stock, mostly judging from the historical plate) and rock solid, and the year of Model A probably doesn't matter much, so ... $6400. I look forward to it coming out and the top chop.
'31 Ford Tudor | The H.A.M.B. (jalopyjournal.com) 31 for sale on here in worse shape for 6k. 1929 ford model A tudor sedan builder with title | The H.A.M.B. (jalopyjournal.com) 4.5k for a body pieced out. 1929 Ford Model A 2DR Sedan | The H.A.M.B. (jalopyjournal.com) 6.8k with extra parts. Pretty much what badshifter is getting at. Wildly different, it's going to be down to whatever you're comfortable at buying or selling it for and someone to agree with that. I personally wouldn't spend more than four on something like that.
This is the only correct answer. If the old lady, says, "Just get it out of here--free." What is it worth? If you sell your free car for $4000 is that what its worth? What if your buyer sells it for $6000? Its still the same car. Asking the internet what its worth is a stupid question.
I don't understand the motivations for your comment. I'm trying to understand. What irks (are you irked?) you and others about people asking for the general consensus of what an old car might be worth? Does my use of the word "might" help? There's a correct answer? To what question? I think that the answer you have is for the question "What will the actual sale price be, if it's sold?" That's a different thing. Maybe that's where the controversy lies. What does "It's still the same car" mean in this context? If the car was bought/sold for $1,000,000 and then immediately crushed- is it still the same car? Is it still worth the same amount? Does it maintain its value? No, because its condition has changed. People who participate in this forum (the "What's It Worth?" forum, where this thread was moved to) are assessing the condition and value of the car. It's kind of fun, for some reason. It'd add to the fun if the person asking buys/sells the car and we see who had the closest answer. As for getting more details: maybe the OPs see the negative(?) comments and abandon the thread.
There wasn't a link, but there were a few pictures and a little bit of information in post #1. This morning, #1 was edited to "nm." It seems possible that they were excited to read helpful replies, read through the actual replies, and decided that it was no longer worth it to ask what the car is worth on the HAMB.
