Where is a good place to find a oil pump for a 8cm merc eng? I've looked at speedways and they offer several.
Eng is 5/16 x 4 with a 77B cam, what ever that is and 3 carbs in a Traditional 28 roadster. Will not see hard use. I'm too old.:)

Old discussion topic but better than some lately. I used a Melling M-15 High Volume pump on mine at H&H Flatheads recommendations. It did require a slight oil pan mod though as it is deeper than stock. This question is not a "one size fits all answer". You are probably just fine with a stock replacement but don't skimp on quality to save a buck on suck an important part. Be cautious on using high pressure pumps.

Thanks BB. I always use hi volume if I can. Helps keep the eng cooler.

If you have a Merc pan, the high volume will fit, as the bulge goes farther down than the truck pan.

    Jim,
I used the M-19 oil pump in my flathead. All new parts like yours. Cold oil pressure is 55/60 and hot idle is 25 lbs.

Never an issue. Just my .02 worth. I know your building a 49 to 53 block. On the early motors you need to do something with the oil pressure bypass in the oil galley under the intake since the M-15 and M-19 have the spring inside them.

I would never recommend using an M-15 on a street engine. Too much pressure can be as bad as too little. I use stock Ford pumps that I flow test on a rig I have built up. I have hardly ever seen a stock used pump that was not reusable.

Flat, I haven't used a hi pressure before. In the o/t engines I always used a hi volume but they were wide clearance engine.

    thanks,
