oil pressure gauge

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by chopped top, Jun 19, 2005.

  1. Is ther a test to see if my stewart warner oil gauge is working. Its 6v electrical in a 34 pickup with 59ab. Just got it running after 25 years and gauge shows no pressue. Sending unit is tough to get to, wanted to try this first. Thanks, Mark

One side of the gauge gets 6V power---the other side goes to the sender... ground the sender side ( quickly .. touch it to ground and remove it) ,,, if the needle moves the gauge is good...no movement-it's bad......make sure the wire going to the sender has continuity ( not broken)....

Might also be a good idea to use a test light or voltmeter to see if it's getting power....;)
