Not so much done today but I got the front shocks stripped and fitted updated valves and heavier oil in them, makes them 30% updated shocks
Got them cleaned and primed and painted in satin black, baked and fitted by teatime

The frame and all looks outstanding Steve, as always, your attention to detail is spot on.

Well the chassis is all wrapped up and put away for the time being as the body came back today 99% done, one of Brads neighbours reported him to the council for working from home so that put a stop to that !!!
I will finish it off myself and get a mate to prime it in my shop.
All the trips to the hospital weren't in vain as I spotted some old hospital beds dumped, I shortened one to use as a dolly for pickup body.

  9. I was using the Like button to avoid clogging up a brilliant thread with my inane questions and comments. Just one more opinion here but the site has changed as traditional seems to have become more of a fashion show than real guys building real hot rods. That fluff will die out as those types drift in to the next big thing. Maybe then we will be left with the originals and stalwarts.

A couple of people asked about the body dolly so here's what I did, I cut it down by removing the bed lighting grubbing and then shortened it to suit my cab,
then I found 2 pieces of 60mm x 30mm box and drilled holes in them to match the body mounting holes in the floor, 4 pieces of studding was cut and bolted into the box section, then some scraps of tube were cut to space the body off the box section, nuts and washers added and bolted to cab floor.

I wonder how many bodies have been on that dolly before...including its previous life. :)

Bit of a quiet day for a change so it let me get on with the stonechipping of the Willys cab floor, first a couple of layers of glassfibre was laid down to seal it all off, this was then buzzed off flattish , then 3 coats of black epoxy primer and then 2 coats of black Gravitex stone chip
Workshop up to 80F now so baking nicely

  21. Are you going to get it in shiny paint then pull your molds?

Got the dash finished today, the ends were slightly different so had to be modded a bit

I'm just about ready to epoxy the cab and prime so I mixed up some old primers and painted the inside, this keeps all the dust sealed and gives much nicer environment for fitting up.

But oh so gratifying when you reach your goal.
Personally, I'll hate to see it end, but will be happy for you Steve, then you can enjoy your hard work.

Yes indeed it will bud, hopefully it will turn out ok.
Seems fibreglass bodies are not so welcome here these days

Just saw this on another thread about F-100 brakes on 37-48 spindles. Very nice work and Willys.
