Projects OH NO I RUINED MY SHOEBOX!!

Discussion in 'Traditional Customs' started by tudorfritz, Jan 10, 2017.

  1. Excellent work, IMHO your proportions for the chop are spot on, seriously thought about that for mine. Still thinking in fact. Thanks for the updates and progress reports.

Did I read correctly was this originally a four dour? What color is the model A? I've been looking for a color for my shoebox and I really love that color. Beautiful work on everything, Kudos.

  3. No, the car was never a four door I've just had a few guys say they thought it was at one time. The Model A paint color is Washington Blue.

  5. I would like tudorfritz to drop down to Texas and chop a 50 I have so I do not have to (what can I say I am lazy)

  6. I'm still here! I've been trying to get out to the garage most night. I only work on it about a hour and a half at a time. This working for a living is cutting into my garage time way too much lol.
I have the drivers side B post and the door top finished up.

I made templates off the passenger side so the curves will be as close as possible from side to side.

I always try and make the inside of the door look as close to factory as possible. I hate when you open up a door of a car and someone cobbed it up and you can't see the skin edge on the inside.

Great work looks really nice. I agree with you. The work in the inside of the door jam is the difference between I very nice job and a hack job.

Keep on keeping on Scott. Our visit over gave Geoff some inspiration. He absorbs things like a sponge and uses that for his truck project. He really doesnt need any kick in the butt to work on it at all.

My Olds yells at him from the shed every time he walks by it on his way to the shop out back. We are both lucky we haven't had to nudge our boys into this stuff.Go Karts didnt hurt;). Hope to see your gang at the Open Wheel Room next month. Jim F

Got the back of the quarter window finished up.
Last night I started laying out the back window placement.

I have the window moved forward about 3 1/2". I wanted to kind of split the difference between a sedan and a coupe. I'm probably gonna stare at it for a few days and fine tune it a little before I make it permanent.

  21. I got the back window set to where I want it. [IMG]
I covered it with masking tape to get a better feel for how it's gonna look. I ended up moving the window forward 4" at the bottom.
I have the left side sail panel roughed in. I spent about two hours wheeling it, it's pretty close. The black marker lines are where it's gonna get trimmed and spliced into the roof. [IMG]

  28. I haven't gotten much done in the last two weeks. Last week I cleans the shop up and got the Model A out for a show. Last Friday while I had my trailer hooked up I went and picked up a lift.
I spent three nights putting it together and setting it up. [IMG]
Back to work now. I got the left side sail panel trimmed and tacked in place. [IMG]
Working on the right side now, hoping to have it all tacked together by the end of the weekend.

  30. Those lift will spoil you , I started with an old Walker muffler lift fron the 40's( has I-beam sides and a skate board for front end) still use it regularly . Then added a 2 post lift 8 years ago. Now I want the 2 post articulated arm from Nussbaum like they have on wheeler deals show on velocity but boy is it pricy!
