Worked on the car some more tonight. Got new front rims mounted & balanced. Planned on putting rotors back on tonight but after cleaning the wheel bearings I'm going to replace the inner wheel bearings... Timken LM67048, hope parts store has a pair! Adjusted tie rods so it has a lil toe in. And got alternator bolted up & plug wires back on... Feeling a lil better starting to look like something again! .

That thing is looking sweet. It looks so good with those headers and Edelbrocks that I almost didn't notice that it is a Ford...

    Nicely played...

Scott- I was talking to Ric and he said I should leave my current setup in the car so that you have a glimmer of hope... I think I am gonna listen to Ric

Its always fun too watch you Ford guys spend all that money to make your Ford run as fast as a stock Chevy.

Gears and cam is all I need to make this little thing drive around those big flabby Chevys and Mopars James.

Considering my motor was originally designed as a 221ci commuter car motor,I'm thinking it's come a long way since '62,and maybe instead of calling it the Shaker,I should be calling it "The Waiter" for 2 reasons:

1: It's gonna be serving up a WHOLE lot of crow to all you Chevy and Mopar guys

2: I'm gonna have to sit and WAIT in it on the return road for you guys to finally catch up;)

Having it for 25 years makes it like a part of the family:)

Nice, are those front links set up pushing or pulling for preload?

  20. ...bigslim,...gotta ? on your headers,...since they hang out to the sides so far, are they supported down around the collectors at all or only bolt to heads,...seems like they could stress the welds at the flanges on the heads, had a buddy with that problem.,..just curious
if you've ever had a problem.

  21. Naw, ya got it all wrong cornflake. What I said was, you better leave your current setup in, so when Scott smacks the silly putty oughta ya, you won't "feel like such a dope"!

    Thanks ( Pushing )

But it wasnt planned that way, had it pretty straight but when my buddy welded it, the ends came forward a little.

So set up the jig again to flex them back ( then installed the links to keep in place ) so they are pre-loaded.

What a crazy nice day in the Ozarks. Probably won't last but today and tomorrow we are catching some rays and working in short sleeves. Bring on the global warming!

Kinda funny you don't hear these Ford guys talking about braking any rear ends and don't say its because of the Ford rear end because we have junked them also.

That's because those fords don't have enough power to break anything lol the only rear axle I haven't broke is the quickchange in my Willys and I had to put a Chrysler Trans in it to keep it from breaking And it's only 311 cubic inches couldn't imagine if I had one of those big bad 409 motors in it
