.., or the Fred Flintstone chassis!
Just seen the Jack Merkel '39 in our buddies shop in Forreston!!! Doing some last minute bodywork before the Meltdown.
You should be letting the smoke billow off your tires...... We run street tires too. And we do burn outs. Why? Because it's kool.
Norb, slow orange is starting to come around, starting to get faster... Had help from Jon Tomkins, it's really running WAY better now. Have couple more adjustments to do, still too rich at idle, but getting there!
Had to modify upper shock mounts. Needed more shock travel. Had friend Dan weld in couple support gussets for mounts. He said I had to do a burnout for payment...!
Well guys I still have a 409 to bring to the Meltdowns
Now that sounds healthy,
If she pulls through like that on the sticky stuff, you gotter made
Are we due for a Eclipse or something ( Fords are making power )
Did you think you hurt it?
Anyone had this headlight/turn signal problem? With headlights off, turn signals work perfect front & rear... Pull headlight switch out & turn either right or left signal on & light gets bright but will not blink. Now go to front of car & nothing with headlight switch on, right or left. If I push headlight switch in the lights blink front & back?!? I was thinking checking headlight switch & see if loose wire or bad ground? Or bad flasher? Anyone ran into this before?
Sounds really good Jim!! Going to be cool seeing it go down the track.

I had no doubt you would james how did she run
Check the grounds. Went though that with the Falcon a couple months back. Went to the trouble of replacing the switch thinking that was it and it wasn't. Found out that way back when, around 8 years ago we painted the front bumper. By doing that we lost the ground that the turn signal buckets need to complete the circuit. We were getting all kinds of weird things happening with the headlights on and off.
Well fellas, finished up the job Saturday morning at 6:30,went back to the hotel and grabbed 4 hrs of sleep, packed my shit and drove home in time to pick up my oldest Son from work on Father's Day.
Gotta do some work around the house this morning (cause Mama's been gettin buried by it all while I was gone for 2 months),then I'm gonna head out and get back to work on the car!
There ain't gonna be no assemblin' motors at 10:30pm the night before....This year is gonna be one to remember.
Car ran great for as hot as it was.
With the safer gear in it running through the traps at 6200 RPM singing a song way better than the one them Beach Boys sang.
I went out first round dialed in with a 12.50 and ran a 12.41 @ 107. I took that as a win for me that was the best MPH for the car to date.
I am coming for you Scott. We lightened the trunk lid this weekend (actually did it to make it easier to get to a big dent that needed to be knocked out). But in the process we shaved nearly 2 pounds off the Austin. If I did the math right that should trim .0002 of a second off my ET!
Did this just get incredibly awkward...?
We're only allowed to race if you keep your pants on,is that clear? No freaky shit.
Its going to spin or do back flips, either way Scott your going to have your hands full.
Opps bad thoughts
Either way,it's a win/win for me.
If I lose to an 850hp supercharged BBC in a car that's 500lbs lighter than mine, well I went down swinging.Zero shame in that.
If I beat a supercharged, big cubic inch BBC in a lighter car with my small cubic inch, naturally aspirated, not so light car, then I'm a badass that took down a "faster" car...
I say if we all make it there and put on a show for the crowd it's a win /win
James hit the nail right on the head:
Good close racing for the fans to enjoy is the most important part
Seeing close matches, with cars that look like they would have been in the same class in the 60's.
That's half the fun;walking the pits looking for cars that look like they should be launching next to yours in an old black and white photo with "Motor City Dragway August 64" written on the back of it
Like this one Scott
Nailed it Brother!
That must have been just last year, cause the third floor is on the tower.
Git 'er dun Scotty! Lookin' forward to seeing you and the Shaker there!
Yeah Scott it was last year because I was there with the Willys unlike the shaker lmao
Can I throw in a plug for the last weekend?
Got a full windshield view of this one when we paired up in time trials.
