Hagerty always does a great job with their videos. They rebuild all kinds of engines too, so there's something for everyone.

  6. Fun to watch. Looks like they did a quality rebuild with checking all balance weights on parts. Noticed the brass freeze plugs as well.

GM 327's and 283's are still, two of my favorite SBC's.
I have owned both of them, in past cars and trucks. Simple and very dependable.
    Thanks for this great video!

I met Davin Reckow (who does the Hagerty videos) at the Bootheel Fuel & Gas Drags at Sikeston, MO last year. Great guy to talk with and hang out. I wouldn't doubt he got tired of me showing up over and over at his pit with more questions about building a FED. He runs a beautiful FED call the "Parts Chaser"

  12. Here's another one to follow from Hagerty. This is what drew me to their videos. This series is really great, and they haven't finished this one yet. Davin says they plan to finish it soon...

I think I’ve watched that video a dozen times this week. Entrancing for sure.

  15. Yes ... I agree that this SBC time-lapse rebuild is "oddly" satisfying ... but for some strange reason , I get more satisfaction from watching this Hagerty video: Chrysler HEMI Engine Rebuild Time Lapse :D

What's odd is that they put a roller cam and roller rockers in it then put the stock exhaust manifolds and 2 barrel intake and carb back on it.

Seeing a 283 195hp as it was meant to be in it last few years was a real treat. I would have thought we would have seen some assembly lube on the push rod tops but I’m sure the priming we didn’t see took care of it. Today with cam/lifter breaking we read about it’s nice to see a very mild roller being used..

    That was cool

Kinda glad that they didn't record the fast-motion sound track though. With all the cussing that goes into a rebuild, it would have sounded like Donald Duck losing his temper.

    Cheers,
