OK, newer transmission, but will be mated behind a 4-deuced 331 Caddy in a 31 roadster....I'm having a bitch of a time getting an answer, so I turn to the HAMB.
I need a G/M part # for the S-10 5 speed from the late 80s early 90s.... the one you want to use in a hot rod from what I'm told (Wilcap recommended). A vin # from a vehicle that came with it stock would also suffice. Anybody??? So far I've heard the transmission called a T-5, an ML2 and an ML3.....
    Thanks in advance! :D

  2. i believe the one you want to use is from a `85-`92 S-10 with a 5-speed

that is the one cornhusker rod and custom told me to use with their bellhousing kit

Pm Krylon32..i'm sure he will know

  3. mine came from a v6 blazer. some s-10 transmissions do not have a removeable bellhousing, the t5 does. i'm sure someone will post it up before i do, but i'll get the number off of mine later this afternoon when i go over to the shop.

Here is a list of the GM T5 part numbers from Borg Warner/Tremec. Those before 1988 are not World Class units and handle less power due to a lack of roller bearings. They use gear oil, the newer WC units use ATF. S-10 has a forward shifter location, Camaro has a rear shifter location. I understand that the "94 up V6 Camaro switched to the Ford bellhousing pattern. All others are pretty easy to adapt to Chevy and adapters for just about everything else are available. This is based on my own research on the web, so don't stake your life on the accuracy.

This page may be helpful. Many of the S-10 T-5 trans have a very low first gear.. 4.03. I got lucky and got a free one with the 3.78 fist gear. If I were looking for one, I'd make a copy of this page to find the desirable 1352 number. Even in a flea market the number will tell you what it came in and what the gear ratios are.
