**I did a search and couldnt find a similar thread so if someone knows of a similar one, polease point me toward it...**

Through my brief life experiences, i have learned that networking is an underestimated, powerful thing. So i was hoping to start a thread where you tell everyone what your "non-HAMB" hobbies might be. I know we all have cars in common, but it may be interesting to see some other similarities with our HAMB brethren and sistren...

    anyway, i'll start:
I keep fish (african cichlids, to be exact).
I'm trying to start up my own graphic design business.
I paint and try to do a little printmaking.
    and I like to Geocache.

  2. Many older HAMBers know I spent most of my adult life in the Bicycle Industry. I do Carpentry. Like to climb frozen waterfalls with deadly intstruments. Geocaching intrigues me..........i traded my XC ski gear for a garmin, then traded the Garmin for some ice axes though:eek: :D

    you like art????:D

  6. The only thing that rivals my passion for hot rods is skateboarding...a cross-country skate trip with a few friends in a couple old cars is as close to heaven as I'll probably get.

  12. I wish I had time for hobbies, The closest thing I have to a hobby is restoring houses. My wife and I are on our 3rd one in about 5 years. This one will be the last. The next place will be acreage and will already be done. Then it's all about hotrods.:) :)

Although I plan to get out of it soon, snowmobiles. Fast, scary, rip-your-arms-out accelleration. It's like a drug. Snow's been as lean as $$$ the last couple seasons so I'm probably done. I've been through trails with trees less than 10' apart at well over 70mph, and many times even faster. For perspective, 175+hp and all in weight of just over 800#...about 4.5lbs/HP. My drag car was 5.9lbs/HP. And yes when you work it all out the sled hooks damn near as good and sometimes better. In it's best state of tune it would top 95mph in 500'.

I like to collect things as well. Old tools and car related stuff.

I'm into collecting 1:64 Hot Wheels as my main focus. I do also collect other nice model cars. I used to do some R/C racing and then slot car racing too.

  20. I race stock cars, have been at it off & on since '78. I was heavily into custom bikes for thirty-plus years, then one day decided I didn't care anymore. I've built a couple V6 trikes with hand-built fiberglass bodies. I engrave glass (not nearly as well as guiseart) and am a part-time sign painter. I custom paint anything that will stand still, and have been a Court Appointed Special Advocate for abused children and ran a charity that raised funds to help the families of seriously-ill kids for 8-9 years. I have a set of 17-year-old twin sons that make me laugh..a lot. My other non-HAMB hobby is keeping my wife happy so she doesn't kill me.

  21. Art...
Restoring a cottage (built in 1790!!)
currently researching in to starting a new business
chasing the wife round the cottage in her underwear (her wearing it not me!)
    Skateboarding.....and falling off it

Pre WWII cars take up most of my life as far as hobby time, but I'd really like to have the time and funds to travel. I've seen a little over half the 50 states, sure would like to see the rest. The time period of 1845 - 1915 has always fascinated me, an era of great expansion and invention. I think it would have been a great time to live...............maybe I did in an earlier life.

I'm a knight in a medival re-enactment society, full contact armoured foot combat. I also hunt extensively in the fall, and collect vintage outdoor equipment.

While cars have been the focus of my life for as long as I can remember metal shaping and machining have held a fasination as well. I've been buying/building a selection of metal shaping tools and equipment and have a nicely equipted hobby machine shop to satisfy my "need" to be involved in these other activities.
