Hey Flop, a question on the coupe that started this posting.

Did you do anything on the rain gutters where they were lifting?

Got the same problem on my coupe and looking for ideas on how to fix it.

Great job on the repairs, love the metal finish. Wish I could do it half as good.

Same experience with patch panels, they suck, some a lot more than others. Got wheel well filler panels from a Canadian supplier that had the raised bead pattern put in with a bead roller and the bottom bent with a brake . Have a driver side rear corner patch left over after deciding it was easier and faster to make my own. Cowl and door patches had different bead profiles, one rounded the other square. Front cowl and door panels were straight, no curve to match the body or door frame.:(

    Great work.

hey canuck .didnt dig into the rain gutters per customers orders.why ? i dont really know myself .made the car rust free except for the drip rail area.but the sand blaster tried to get under em and loaded up with some primer maybe he will luck out who knows.

i know they remake rain gutter...quality i dont know. im sure there is rust behind them causing them to pop.

    appreciate the kind words man!

i thought about starting to make and sell patch panels but do know if i will have the time. or maybe just making a bead that would actually match up to an orig model a piece.i think you could make some money off of it seeing the quality of whats out there . if enough people would contact me i might make a few but dont think i wanna deal with the hassels of rolling a ton out on the bead roller.

wow! very nice work. it''s funny that sometimes people are doing the same thing your doing! i just finished filling a left fender well. i could'ent find anybody to trade with, so i cut it out and "wheeled" a filler plate. came out very good if i do say. keep up your great work!

    thanks brady!!!

Got a set of 28/ 29 ford roadster doors in the shop. the original skins were pretty beat up . old brazing, dents ,dings ,oil cans you name it!

decided to go with the new skins because it will give a much cleaner outcome compared to trying to fix everything

heres the outter skin removed from the inner. i wire wheeled the inner skin to remvoe the surface rust and fixed some pin holes in the bottom of the door but for got to take pictures of that . I primered the new skin and inner and used weld through primer on the edges where it was spot welded a few times.

here is the nice clean outcome

i had to weld the top corners they didnt look good put a quick dab of weld made it lok 100 times better

i got the skins from snyders in ohio i believe they are from brookville

they fit very very very well only place that needed trimmed was the piece that spots welds to the inner skin above the holes at the top. it was to long and was visible in the large holes

i simply folded the edge over with a hammer and dolly

they other door is in worse shape i will post pictures up soon of that one!

I wonder how many years it take to be so good . Flop, I think you are young IIRC ?

  23. Hey Flop,
In post #223 it looks like you used a long file across the fender to see where all the low spots were. Is that correct? If so did you hammer off dollie the dents since they are so close to each other?
Just curious. I have a similar problem with close dents together on the radius of my roof on the 34.
    Thanks for your time.

    nali .just turned 27 .

spdjnky.you are correct . but ended up having to do some shrinking after i brought everything up.if i hada panel that was attatched i think i would usethe stud gun to pull em and then a hammer and dolly .

    the next roadster door=mess
