not safe to use impact gun on coil spring compressor outside of the car?

    2.5 years and we're still waiting for those pics :D

    I just picked up a set of Moog 5270 and they are the exact same dimensions as the stock springs except 3-4" longer. They are a soft long spring.

    In the meanwhile I'm also trying to figure out how to get them compressed enough. I'm thinking the hydraulic press and then I'm making some plates with allthread to hold it down.

    Under static pressure the threads don't strip nearly as easily than when you're using them to tighten stuff. I know on big excavators with 50 ton springs they always compress them hydraulically and then tighten the nut against it to hold it down. You never use the nut to try and compress the spring, it's very dangerous.

    I stand corrected, I didn't realize there were more pages to the discussion. This is what happens when you're rushing to do one more thing before your wife has to call you for dinner for the 3rd time :)
