October 8th 4:21 AM the family car since 97 was temporarily lost to the four point shown. The last few weeks I have been on the hunt for parts to put the car back together and back on the road in what i hope will be a fairly short amount of time. So far that hope is becoming more of a reality with parts being acquired locally only took close to 100 long distance calls following leads to end up buying a parts car dads been trying to acquire since 99 about 35 miles away, set of four doors as mint as i have ever seen only 7 miles away and a pair of fenders NOS stored in the same barn since sometime around 61 about 30 miles away. Now most would normally try and argue that there is no way i acquired NOS fenders and others would normally say that they just look NOS or you think that they are NOS but the insides of the fenders still have the original GM parts stickers in them. The car was totaled by insurance and the original plan at the time was to use and find what chrome and stainless we could and leave the rest of the car alone just try and get it back to what it was on the cheap thinking the sheet metal alone would break the bank but after the score on all the pile of parts looks like the car is going to get a full make over chrome, stainless, paint, interior, wheels and tires plus some glass all because we were able to get all the parts listed for a grand total of $950. Car $250, doors $100, fenders $600. I thank everyone that was involved with the parts hunt and those who sold me the parts these parts are still out there you just need luck and the right people to find them.
Sounds like you are well on your way to get the car back to better than it was. Sorry it happened, but as you are finding out, this stuff can be fixed.
Great score on some nice parts for your 210. Doors are from a 150? I don't see any trim holes. That Bel Air parts car is in decent shape for a Northern car. You might be able to recoup some money from it.
Frame ok? I've bagged more deer here on local roads than my son, who actually hunts them with a deer rifle. When I saw the damage on the 56 it immediately took me to 1970 riding in a 56 tudor with a friend of a friend on a beer run. The "friend" had a lot of beer already and as we're driving down the residential street the driver nodded off. I was sitting in the middle and by the time I realized what was happening, we hit a parked 49 chevy 1 ton with a huge rear bumper. Almost tore the right front fender off! He hid the car in my buddie's parents garage until he could fix it.
Not worth even trying to save fender tore open what wasnt bruised from the impact other side is missing you could say
Doors are 55 150 non trim car the parts car is ruff no floors frame is beyond paper thin in spots and doors dont shut because b pillars are not connected to anything
Man... that's buck'ed up! too soon? From one '56 owner to another, hope you are back on the road quickly!
Hate to see thus but gladly nobody was hurt. Also sad that a 56 is a total loss with this damage. Hopefully the A pillar isn't too bad, windshield is not broken?
If this is a daily driver, this will be a good time to apply the rustproofing of your choice to the back side of the fenders and inside the doors.
Glad nobody was hurt! My brother had a deer go right through the front windshield of his pickup and between he and his wife and landed in the back seat! Neither of them seriously hurt but covered in a shit load of deer blood and glass!
Sorry about the damage, glad people okay. Thank goodness for parts cars, and connections. You'll be back on the road, soon.
Sometimes a hard luck situation brings the best out of neighbors & friends whether it be letting loose of parts or providing a needed lead to acquire them. Rally on!
Glass not broken front door collided with the b pillar gap is very tight now and top of door edge is out flush with the drip rail
Front door collided with the b pillar gap is very tight now and top of door edge ks flush with the drip rail but yes the glass survived needs to be replaced regardless it has over 210k miles of road damage
