For what it's worth, the little panel below the dash with the 4 knobs and vent in it, I hand made from a piece of sheet metal because I could not find anything I liked to put there. That was a days job.

Thanks guys, "fryin the tires in every gear" that would be sweet! I have only had 1 powerful engine before this, and it was in a heavy 70 Chevelle and I was kind of disappointed due to it being so heavy.

Got my E brake working, the Lokar stuff was easy to work with. 130 002.JPG Painted my exhaust pipes with barbecue hi temp black. 130 004.JPG Had to cut and change the inlet by a couple degrees. 130 005.JPG 130 007.JPG Now both pipes are hanging the same.

Made an alternator belt tightener, I would rather have gone the other direction but the hose gets in the way. 131 001.JPG 131 004.JPG

Really don't like my belt tightener so I made a wire pattern and went looking for a different hose 132 087.JPG I found a hose that will work much better 132 085.JPG I took a belt tightener from a 283 I have and, with some altering it will mount like Zips intended. 132 088.JPG

Been doing wiring, slow going but I got through it. 132 005.JPG 132 015.JPG 132 009.JPG I taped the wires to the back to the floor then covered them with metal so I don't have to worry about them. I ran metal all the way to the firewall. 132 010.JPG

My E brake handle was hitting under the dash so I took the handle out and shortened it about an inch and a half. 132 018.JPG 132 021.JPG 132 024.JPG

It took a while to get the door glass working as the windows wanted to cock a little and jam. So after filing and sanding and narrowing the track, 134 027.JPG and ruining a couple C channels I got the door windows working well. I ended up shortening the pass. window arm almost 2 inches to center it better....

SO close is right, I tested the wiring yesterday to see if I had wired it right. Everything worked, lights, radio, turn signals. The only problem was it would not turn over :^(. I am using a Dakota Digital neutral safety switch and I had hooked the power up to the radio feed. The radio and gauge feed shut off when cranking the engine which I did not know until I read the Ron Francis instructions carefully, geeeeez. I hooked the neutral switch to the wiper feed and it cranked over, yea!
When I cranked it over without the plugs in it it showed 30 psi oil pressure----good. I was able to program in the gear locations to the Dakota Digital unit so, I think all the wiring is good. 135 005.JPG P is for park ;^)

Looks good, your making good progress. The Vintiques run is only a few weeks away, any chance on making it the maiden voyage?

Thanks bluecollar, I hope to get it running in a few days. I'm sure the first drives will be within walking distance from home until I get my nerve up, at least for a while. The Watertown event is awesome, I encourage anyone who is thinking about going to a car show to go to Watertown SD. and take in the Vintiques event, you won't be sorry, those guys do a ton of work and have so much enthusiasm for the hobby it's crazy.

I test fitted the windshield with the rubber attached and found it a little loose at the top so I made slots in an attempt to tighten it up. I have a feeling the windshield will leak some. 135 001.JPG 135 002.JPG

I have had it running and after calibrating the speedo as well as I can I put the cowl and windshield on. The windshield will leak so I will try some weatherstripping here and there to try and minimize the leaks. 136 013.JPG
