This Labor Day Weekend, on sunday Sept. 2nd. We will be hosting our 150 mile endurance run for 1940 and earlier hot rods, customs, speedsters, and stockers. What ever you want to drive. This is a driving event, you will want a full tank of gas, and maybe even a navigator. Your car should be in good workin order. We will climb some serious hills and test your brakes coming down. There will be 10 mph hair pin turns, and flat out stretches where you can haul ass on some of the most beautifull country roads in our area. This year we will stop for lunch and regroup, and then continue on the second half to end at an old time drinking and eating establishment. We won't tell you where we are going until that morning, but you will get directions with your donuts and coffee. Anyone who went last year can tell you this run is about having fun driving your car. And this event is FREE! It will cost you enough in gas these days that we wouldn't feel right about charging you anything to drive on public roads. We do this for the love of driving. Here are some links to last years event http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=122611&highlight=reliabilty+run http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=129638&highlight=reliabilty+run http://www.luckybastardscarclub.com/reliablityrun06.htm We will meet at the Twin Oaks Tavern, in Pennegrove, CA at 8:00 am and leave shortly after. The Twin Oaks is located at 5745 Old Redwood Hwy, Pennegrove, CA, which is about an hour north of San Francisco on Hwy 101. We just finished scouting out this years run, and I can promise you a good drive, maybe even better than last year.
Dave... I had a great time last year. (other than running out of gas at the top of that mountain)! Me and Saporn put about 300 miles on the hot rods that day. We'll be back this year.
Pat, I'm glad to here you guys can make it. It was a great time last year, and I know we will have another good time. Big Dirty, you should come anyway, there is always room for passenger/ naviguessers. I have still been struggling with broken hotrods myself. hope to see you there.
So, if a '49 happens to just kinda happens to tag along behind the pack, would you guys frown on that?
Dave, I was just about to pm you about the date and I searched this out. Can't wait, last year was an absolute gas (other than one relatively minor incident with my A shutting off on one of those mountain roads !). I will be there. Anyone thinkin about this event............DO IT. Can't say enough good stuff about it, an absolute blast. See you there.
this is a must do event. get those hot rods dialed in and ready for some serious driving. heck, this is the reason we own these things is to actually drive them right?
I had a BLAST last year-- this deal rules. Despite my roadster blowing out a tube in the middle of nowhere, I made it back safe for the finish line dinner-- what a hoot! If you've got an old timey Hot Rod-- do this run!
Cool, I am glad to hear you guys are going to make it. I have to get back to work to make sure I have a car that will make it, hahaha.
Dirty-- Ride shotgun w/ me in the Merc. Thats right- I'm taking the taildragger this year! Unless I wanna roll the dice in the A-- I can't decide! jay
it is this SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY( in wrestling anouncers voice) lol Once again, if you like driving, you will have a great time. see all there
A huge thanks to the Lucky Bastards, the run was excellent! I got back at about 8:30pm, so it was a long day, took off here at 6:30 am, total round trip was about 390 miles for me. Had a blast! A hotrod event where you actually get to drive your jalopy and not not just park it, I wish we had more events like this! Lot's of great cars, great people, awesome back roads, the restaurant was great also! The only problem we had was that Saporan actually broke his frame about 3/4 of the way thru the run, but kept driving and finished it anyway! So we had no real casualties! I can't wait till next year! Great job guys!
Yeah man, the funny thing is that not even 20 miles before it broke we were talkin over lunch and he was saying that the car needed some work and he was gonna tear the whole car down this winter and redo every thing! Talk about a bad omen!
Wow , almost word for word what I was going to write. We came from fremont so you can shave about 40 miles off the total. Dave, You guys are the best, thats how hot rod event should be planned. When we pulled in about 9 last night my wife looked at me and we both said, if the Lucky Bastards had another run tomorrow we would want to go again. A+ for the day. Great people Cool cars Unbelievable route, I think I saw one stop light, no city driving, 140 miles of great backroads and a couple of little towns. Great food Dave, Thanks again for the invite, I know you all put a lot of work into this event each year, I look forward to next year. Chuck
Hands down one of the best events ever. Much better than sitting around at a car show. Tons of fun and a great group of people to spend the day with. I took some pictures but they are on my photobucket so I have to figure how to post them because they are to big. Worst comes to worst I will link my photobucket. Thanks again what a great time. Scott. I'm having trouble uploading the pictures from my photo bucket and I don't have time to compress them all so check out http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o38/BlueCollarCustoms/luckybastards07run031-1.jpg
sorry look up bluecollarcustoms on photobucket and the first 4 pages should have some pictures. enjoy
Scott, Thanks, I enjoyed seeing the day from your car. It was fun hanging out on sunday. See you soon chuck
As all have said, great job Dave and the Lucky Bastards. What a good time, my brother and I had a ball, car was absolutely reliable. This is becoming a Nor Cal tradition and a good one at that. Thanks for the hard work puttin this one on guys and gals. Ric
