always keep an eye on craigslist, etc for garage / estate sales - most have only household stuff, etc - this one today in Auburn was a rare one 20201024_083523.jpg 20201024_083546.jpg 20201024_083558.jpg 20201024_083628.jpg 20201024_083826.jpg 20201024_083830.jpg 20201024_083852.jpg 20201024_084014.jpg 20201024_084028.jpg

Who cares? If you see it, and need it or want it, the only question should be, "Did I bring enough cash?"

    Damn you’re a sour dude

No one wants to pay retail at a garage sale. Or a swap meet. Or maybe sour dudes like you do? The guy was basically asking if you (third person) could have gotten a decent deal, I/e was the seller trying to get rid of it, tired of tripping over it, etc. or was the seller playing BJ auction and thinking he/ her was sitting on a pile of gold?

    Get it?

I love those types of garage sales, they usually have a few coffee cans of hardware and the people are usually shocked that somebody even wants it.

At one point, I probably had 50lb of nuts and bolts from sales like this.

Feeling a bit of envy, right now. Haha.

Sorry if I upset your delicate constitution.

But I've never been one to waste my time looking for that absolute good deal, or worrying about whether I'm paying too much for something I needed or wanted when it comes to my hobbies. I can always make more money. I can't make more time. I won't stall a project because I'm worried about how much profit a seller is making. Whether a part is from a retailer, swap meet, auction or a garage sale, if the price is what I'm willing to pay, I pay. If not, I walk. It's really that simple. If that makes me a sour dude in your eyes, I'm guessing we won't be exchanging Xmas cards.
My rose colored glasses broke a long time ago.

    Got it?

That's a real mixed bag of parts and stuff in general.

  18. Wow, that's what happens when we stay at one Address to long, I should know. My question is how much of that stuff was actually gone at the end of the day?

Went to a tag(estate sale today), the only thing I found automotive wise was a couple pair of jumper cables. Plus a free car battery. Wasn`t a waste of time. Knew the family and their daughter. You buy things someone has used and collected over the years. You then use them and the tradition continues. The quality of things made years ago are far more superior to todays stuff.

  20. SBC stuff is at most estate sales....the one that amazed me was a guy that was rebuilding flathead oil pumps - I have a ton of gears and crap from that one. Picked up a 354 Industrial hemi at one of the lasts ones I went to - they had a picture of it on the web site but guess no one was watching. Thanks for reminding us........
