SoCal of the '30s-'50s, the "Magic Kingdom" for us fans. It's gone, and will never happen again. Thanks Michelley, great stuff.

    Good article Michelley.
I was not into the customs then but I appreciated the styles of Mercurys like Nick's.
However I did know many of the "players" you showed from the racing area. I enjoyed their memories that you brought out.
I remember holding my breath on a thrill ride down Venice Blvd. at noon, with Joe Pisano in his Buick in 1952. I also raced againist the O'Brien-Rackemann-Baney roadster in 1954. We had some good times.
Keep up the good work looking back at the good old days.
    Don

Thank You for doing this article, once agian, the stories of the past by those who lived in an era that I admire so much. Custom cars in California, more so, Southern California.

    Michelle.

Thank you so much for posting this. The effort required for the research of this article must have been immense. It shows a deep appreciation for this classic custom and the vision that went into it's creation.

The Matranga Merc, with it's smooth flowing lines is one of the most beautiful customs of all time. It is definitely a "Classic" in all meanings of the word.

I've always been more of a "hot rod" guy, rather than a "custom" guy. However, this custom is one of my all time favorite cars. Thank you again for all of the time and consideration that went into posting this.

    John.

  22. Michelle, I've enjoyed the other things you've written, but this is your best so far. Thank you so much for all of your hard work!

Um, not for me it doesn't. The very 1st post on the very 1st page is nothing but pictures. There is no article on any page or post for me.

Anyone else using the HAMB app on iPhone? I wonder if that has something to do with it.
