It must just be now when I see 59 Chem. Jr. Stkrs. that I think "Wow, that was a popular car for the class" but in reality back in the day, 59 Chevys were probably quite common after all in some cases they were only ten or so years old. I have come to appreciate them a lot more now.

Particularly true prior to the changes wrought by Stage I of "The Purge" when a 283, 4-speed combination was still acceptable. After that, they were a lot more common with a Powerglide than with the 3-speed.

This quarter window an a front fender with 292 painted on the side is all that remains of a 57 2dr hard top bel air jr stocker. I did not ever see the car before my non H.A.M.B. friendly buddy turned it into a street rod but I can imagine. I did manage to end up with the stahl fender well headers, traction bars and 57 rear end with after market axles and posi.
Not all jr stockers rusted away.... some were no rust CA cars that became street rods.

Hey Jimbo...where did you get that decal? The more I look at it, the more familiar it looks!! I like it!!

That sure looks like the Aquasco speedway starting line in Maryland. Notice how the staging lanes goes down hill behind the starting line and that mess of wires coming off that pole above the roof line on that willys coupe is very familiar.

I had a collector who had hundreds of old decals and he sent me what was left of an old water transfer style decal and I recreated the image for him.

Really do not sell many of these old decals anymore because unless you are in your 70's or 80's most people have no idea of where the track was located. Not sure how many years this track was in operation under this name.

I have a few thousand old racing decals but every year as more old-timers pass on my customer list gets shorter!

Terry I know what you mean. I seem to have the same eye when it comes to Dover dragstrip.

Yeah....They became like a almost like a 2nd home when you spend every Sunday that it doesn't rain there but then I was drafted in Feb. 1966 ! No drag strips in Viet Nam.

I know that also Terry, I was there in 69. Seems like we can cherish the good memories of those drag racing days long gone by.

Those '63 Pontiacs are good looking cars, aren't they? :)
