Wally Nissan was the runner up in his H/S wagon at the 67 World finals .The winner in Super Stock was ED miller, who won $16,000 for his efforts. That is 2 times what you could win today at a NHRA National event.Pretty sad.
I just went on an inflation calculator, $16,000.00, 1967 inflation numbers to today = $115,027.00. Not sure how accurate that is, but I'm just sitting here thinking.....Wow!

TommyD: Thanks for all of your hard work in helping keep the memories of Junior Stock alive. This was the classes many wanted to race back in the day and was so popular with everyone. Jimbo
This car still looks like this and the newest caretaker runs its original 421 SD pretty hard at various events.
The second photo of that '61 was taken in front of my house before I sold the car back to the guy who raced it in the first photo. He passed away and I"m not sure what the family is doing with it now. I know they tried to resell it but I think they still have it. Verne
Always nice to hear when one of these "race cars" has survived, and is still in actual use, especially as a street car. About 25-30 years ago, there was an old Junior Stock/Super Stock, 57, 210, 2 door sedan, that used to run around the Everett, Wa. area. Spivey-Anderson was who campaigned the car, and it was still lettered/decaled up just the way it was when it was raced (with Spivey-Anderson still on the doors). I'd like to know if it's still around, stuck in someone's garage, or maybe repainted, and is a street cruiser. I heard a rumor John Barkley had bought his old car back, or had bought one he was going to recreate his old car with (?). Keep the photos and stories coming guys! I am Butch/56sedandelivery.
John displayed the car at the 2016 Winternationals. We stood by the car and discussed the presentation of it at some length on the day that he brought it into the pits. That is THE car with most of the paint unmolested. He's working on recreating the drive train using a cast iron 'Glide, Rochester 4-jet, with period-correct emphasis on Junior Stock Eliminator.
Here's another. My brother ownes that car. I contacted a gentleman in Montgomery Al that told me that he bought the car from Gene Wheeler and raced it then it swapped hands a couple times before my brother got it. I did the restoration in 1999.
We ran against and with Bob Burkitt for several years. Pratt-Burkitt@ Frank were good guys. This car has left a lasting imprint on my brain.
