My name is Bob Wilson, and I am a friend and co-worker of Steve's.

Steve's lovely wife Backy just called me to inform me that Steve passed away this morning. Funeral arrangements have not been finalized, but I do know that the funeral will be in Stillwater MN. I can post further details if anybody here on the board plans to attend.

Your support here at HAMB has been touching and heartwarming. Thank you all so much for rallying around a good cause and for trying to help a fellow rodder out.

    Godspeed and God bless.

Let the family know (if they didn't already) that Steve was MUCH admired and appreciated in the car community. I think everyone on this board looked forward to reading Steve's work, and he will live on in our memories and magazine collections for all eternity.

My deepest sympathies and prayers go out to his family.

I got to meet Steve and his whole family a few years ago on the way home from back to the 50’s. It’s completely overwhelming to think about what has happened in such a short amount of time.

    I'm crushed.

I don't think enough people realize what Steve did for all of us. I'm gonna make it a mission of mine to make sure more people do.

I don't any other way to say it, but he was a hero. I'm gonna miss his emails and guidance so much...

This has made today much harder.
We are all much the poorer for this loss.

    Steve WILL be remembered.

my thoughts and prayers to his family. I admired Steve as a writer; one of the very BEST automotive writers. He didn't know me from Adam but went out of his way to help me out a couple of times. He will be missed.

I am deeply saddened. Steve was a true pioneer and a great person. When I first started out in the business, he reached out to me and helped me out by encouraging me with many friendly words. He will be missed and prayers got out to all.
