here is a pics with the frame gone at Gambinos in San Jose here is a link to all the pics http://pbckt.com/sC.irg when we get the chassis and engine soon I will post more pics. If anyone has a 39 seat I need one or a reccomendation on another bench seat that will fit nice in the 39 zephyr
So we are deciding on Transmission and Gear ratios. 2004r Transmission with a 3.55 gear set seems to be the general consensus among all my crew. Engine is a Aluminum block aluminum top 450 HP SBC 15 inch tires and zephyr hubcaps off a 40 zephyr
to me the zephyr is one of the coolest cars customized when it is finished, take your time and do it right!! research other cars and run with your own ideas!!
Here is an Update for ya on the build Dropped off the engine to Gambinos yesterday. its a Aluminum racing block with aluminum heads and should be about 450 horse. We discussed the floor issues and the rot. My buddy Mark who works for Gambino is sanding away at the beast and he does great work !! You can see the chassis now out from under the car. I need a good bench seat for the Speed king.
Where have I been? This is the first time that I've seen the post. Killer project and Gambino's can do wonders with the Zephyr. Good luck with the project and I can't wait to see it all back together... Happy Trails, Mick
Its Art Morrison, I think they had a general Idea what to do from previous projects, and then Alex Gambino worked his magic and told them the rest of what he needed to make it rock. Hopefully with that chassis and my new engine I can lay rubberized smoke for a mile at a time
Looks really nice ! I agree with Roger O'Dell about Rudy's chopped green Zephyr . Personally , I've always wanted to see a bone stock 37/38/39 3 window , only modifications being : a tasteful chop and slammed . Stock stainless , 16" wheels , all the trim on it etc. I think that's all they need . Your car will be great !
I saw this project at the Gambino sit down show cant wait to see how it shakes out! especially if there will be photos of smoke and brimstone poouring fout from under the skirts!
I love Zephyrs so much I think it's illegal in most states. Looks good man. Props to Gambino's as well.
I JUST came back from visiting my local Meineke shop to discuss an exhaust system for my truck. The owner of the shop is a rodder, and guess what his latest project is? Yep, a '39 Zeph.......the body is off and he's using the same Art Morrison chassis. That chassis looks KILLER nice. I didn't have my camera, but will return there on Saturday to snap a few....with his permission, of course.
Antny that sounds awesome, was the floor still on his or does he have to or did he have to fab the floor ?
it difenatly was a BIG learning experiance dealing with AM there chassiss are definatly top notch but geared more for pro torring crowed, not 100% happy with there 4bar rear air ride set up thre was a problem with the pan hard bar so we got rid of it and were gona run a diangle link instead (they woulnt do a trianglated with air ride in the rear ) had i known then what i do now i would have ordered the chassiss with mII air ride in the front and tranglated with coil overs in the rear then did the air ride my self with the motor thats going in this chassiss this thing will be able to do mile long burn outs
Its been a bit since I had a chance to make it over to Gambinos shop, but got there today to see the progress on the Zephyr Project, They been going nuts replacing the rear wheel panels and patching up the rough spots on the car, Some really nice metal work goin on. Cant wait for the next developments here are some pics of the progress. More pics and larger on teh picasa website http://picasaweb.google.com/legendarylars/1939ZephyrBuild#
Your Zephyr is coming together really nice. Between this car, and the 58 Linc, it sounds like I need to get down to Gambinos and check out what's going on!!
