Didn`t realize we were all getting that old, Kev. Magic of you to start this thread. Hope to see more on here. Still wish I had the second Looking Back book. Very rare, now....

  6. WOW , awesome pics Kev .... Thanks .. I will have to dig deep & see what I can find to add to your amazing thread !
My avatar pic is from Ashburton NZ. I purchased her "Ms Bishop" from original family owners in 1973 when I were just 17. She is now here in Charlotte N.C. with me , we drive the hell out of here . Still all stock & not really restored just whatever she needed to keep her on the road.Gearbox & steering box never been apart , rear end only had axles changed (not sure why? LOL) Cops took her keys from me several times , their reason " treating an old car in such bad fashion"
Thats Edsell Ford in the back ground with me , he loved her!
    Cheers

Yes there was a thread and I posted a link there to let him know it seemed very popular in NZ as we are witnessing. I don't mind the look. Lots of great styling cues here. There was a lot of synchronized Hotrod adventures going on as evidenced here. I would relate this to world trade and perhaps alliances in other situations real big situations...

Kev do you know anything about the red 35/36 3 window with the pick up grille? I don't think I have ever seen a pic of that before.
    Cheers, Russell.

  12. Sorry guys, I don't have time to search for details on the cars and my memory is losing compression.

  15. Wow, great thread Kevin.
I never thought I'd see a pic of Joe Gillmans 35 Coupe, with the Ardun.
This could possibly be one of NZs first Hot Rods.
I believe he sold the Ardun, and it got put in a boat.
From what I've been told, we had five or six Arduns, in the country back then.
Joe still owns this Coupe, and still races/hill climbs it.
@Fairlane500 Knows more about it than me, as he's family. Maybe he will post the history of Joe's 35. IMG_8103_zpscwmypwy8.jpg

  17. unnamed.jpg It's a great Hot Rod Jeremy.
Joe has put a brand new flathead in it, sometime in the last few years, and had it at Millans property for the hill climb.
Notice, Dobson, on the side in first pic.
This car has spent many years driving around here, on the West Coast of the South Island.
I believe Joe and his brother acquired it, maybe in the forties/fifties, and has rebuilt it several times.
Here's a pic at the Leadfoot festival.

  18. Stunning Kev , thanks so much for taking the time to scan and post this awesome historic record .

Sure does. That last set of photos I'm guessing were taken at Pukekawa dirt track. I used to go watch as a teenager (a long time ago). The 39 coupe with the dual headlights is still owned by Ralph Wright and is used on the road nowadays.

  24. Great to see Royce Fishers T Pick Up, now restored and in the hands of Terry Caske. I liked it best with the flat deck though. JW

  25. I wonder where all those Roadsters got to?
Cool that some survived as Hot Rods, but what happened to the rest.

  26. My 32 body got restored. I believe we only had about 75 32 Ford roasters sold new here, there sure are a lot more now!!. JW
