Got an old pal over here called Colin "shady" Lane. He's 72 & tours around the country with his y block powered altered.Once in a while I get together with a bottle of Jack & talk about the old days.
He worked on the docks & got friendly with the American sailors & would get all the latest hot rod mags, which some of he still has, & get ideas for their projects
Every thing was done on the side of the road, like his first chop & channel job & eventually got a garage. They formed the first hot rod club in Wellington called the "Chariotiers" & raised hell.
Just cant get enough of those old stories,,Deadbeat

your not wrong I can remember it cruizing street of Dunedin in the sixties. I reckon the rebuild will involve a small block chev, if they want it to go fast again refit Y block or the flat motor
