Cool city!! The only year for the "ribbed for your pleasure bumpers". You are an official Plymouth Suburban club member now. I was tempted to go the sbc route myself, but found a rebuilt 277 ci V/8 short block instead. If I was dealing with a flat six, I may go the sbc way, Oh! my Mopar friends are going to disown me. Check out the Hot Rod Flatz paint, best of both worlds, semi-flat finish but easy to maintain, as you probably know reg primer is a bitch to wash-keep fingerprints off- etc. Save the ol'girl and have a blast!! Good leads given on Mopar parts, I got all excited when I first got mine thinking nothing was available, but it was just because I was such a rookie. But it ain't like parts for my previous 57 Chevy!! Good Luck man! Great score~Sololobo~

Skip the last post , not going to run chrome on the back fenders !! I now have the back end down 7" and building a set of one off custom 5" drop spindles for the front !!!! This thing looks bitch n' setting on the ground !!! The old coils were junk and broken in this pix. !! A little surface rust here and there ,but man it sure aint bad !!!!

thats a great car to build. call it a beater, call it a wagon, just dont call it a ratrod.

Welcome to the Long roof club

  6. Beautiful ride, I have to agree with the others and throw some shine on it. The lines on that one are too good for flat. Mine is only flat because I bought it that way and with two small kids it is hard to find the time, and money, to paint it. You know the saying, a painters car is never painted....

  7. Hopin' you put some shiny paint on it but it's yours...nice score...I really wanted one that year but couldn't find a decent one to start with and wound up with a 54...almost done...my flathead was wiped out so I put in a late model mopar v6 and trans...very happy with it...decent power, good mileage, sounds like a v8 and when people first glance at it they think its an 8...good luck with yours...here's mine

Mine only has 2 good clear windows ,the back ,and one side slider ! I think our local glass guy can make all my windows ,(pretty flat they seem) . I have a ton of other stuff to finish before glass . But Let me know what he wants for any good glass you dont need ! As for my spindles ,I made a jig and cut the spindle mount off and moved it up 5" , you just have to flip sides on the link arms to get them lower ! I will post pix. when I get back from Vegas

  14. Steele rubber should have all the rubber seals and what not that you will need for the wagon, great score.

  15. Did you think about chopping it before you get glass made? Motivation.

Unless i use 15" or bigger wheels ! wheel hits the bottom A frame ! I got the rest of the paint and old bondo off of it ! I have decided to panel this baby !! I mocked up pattern tonight and I like it  It looks like a chop top panel truck with the windows covered up !!! Here is todays pix.

  20. This is not a 2 door, but after reading this thread, I remembered having these pictures in my archives. Back around 1983, my neighbor had this one. Was very clean and original, and YES it had a Hemi in it. :D
Wish I would have bought soething cooler than my Nova SS when I was 16, like one of these wagons. Probably could have gotten a killer example for cheap. I like the slant six idea. Dare to be different.!

I've heard guys use that line, "I'm using a Chevy motor cause I know how to fix 'em" for decades. You can always tell a lifelong chevy guy. Unlike Mopar guys, they have no concept of having engines you don't have to fix all the time.

  24. Yeah you better take that water sprinkeler off of it or it'll grow into a 4-door >>>>.

That will make a great hotrod ! You just don't see those around the streets everyday . That wagon would look really great with a pair of surf boards on top !
Keep us updated with pictures !
