Not long ago, I got my first flathead. Started & ran for a minute okay, but it has a head gasket problem, the affected cylinder is pitted pretty bad. Looks like a rebuild. A few days later and I have another flathead. Now I have two flatheads. Not sure how this ends
This car shit DOESN'T end! It drags out forever and consumes every available dollar! Don't fight it, it's just the way it is!
Looks like you got a nice replacement. And as mentioned it doesn’t end and fighting it only makes it worse. also it looks like your original engine has been sleeved. Or at least the two cylinders in the pic. It’s not the end of the world but it may be some of the problem when you go to use it for the next project.
Keep an eye on those flatties. Next thing you know, they've invited all their friends to come hang out. Y-blocks are social animals. I started with one, now there's 6 of them in the shed. They're like stray cats... they multiply, too.
Don’t get me started with first gen Hemis. I have 6 and named my dog Hemi. Only have one flatly in the shed but it is getting lonely.
