    Rand Man,

I know it doesn't look like much progress but I have good news!

Castings are at heat treat. They should be back ready for machining, tomorrow!!!!!!

This is one of those jobs that everyone in the process is using as filler. When they have time they work on it. But I believe that this is about to get real serious now.

Thanx everyone for your patience and support. It shouldn't be too much longer, now.

    Bruce

Another delay! The Castings are at heat treat, should be back for machining tomorrow. Same story just that the foundry guys forgot to send them to the heat treater. The machine guy did see them and says they are 'beautiful' !

We are going to machine one of each (11 and 12 bolt) to verify the whole process. I will post pictures as soon as I can!

    FINALLY!
First piece through first operation. The sample part is turned on the inside. All lathe work is done on this side. Now it gets turned around and the outside get turned. Finally, all the holes get drilled and tapped.

Once the prototypes are proven, all the others can be finished.

I actually have thought about 201 cases. But, I need to get this project wound up first.

How about a V8 differential for push in axles (28 or 31 spline)? Weld bearing cups on the ends of the trumpets, set preload and backlash and ready to go. This would work in a banjo or V8 Quickchange.

  15. Bump it up, my money is in, Thanks Bruce

How about a ready to go differential for the champ. Halibrand in KS used to offer one made by Quickchange Exchange in Sante Fe Springs, Ca — Every one of those side plates takes a special differential to run on the street.

    Here is the latest:

The prototypes are finished and on the way to me. I should have them tomorrow or Wednesday. Once all the hole locations and diameters are verified, we flip the switch and out come finished plates.

The plate on the left in each picture is 11 bolt and the other is 12.

I received the two samples this morning. They look even better in person. I have to check the bearing fit and found one small change that needs to be made. Shouldn't delay the order.

  20. They look great Bruce, can't wait.

Bruce, congratulations on your fortitude to make it happen. They look "Marvelous" and are welcomed to those of us who love the Champ 301! Now we need some new cases.

Cactus1, was that rear end in a street car or an old race car? Must be an original set of trumpet adaptors.

Awesome. Saw that on the C-list. Some of us are talking about a HAMB circle track event.

  28. RE: Differential for 28 or 31 spline slip-in axles - for the V8 quick change . . . would love to have that! I have some DPI diffs for the big Frankland/Winters QC's, but nothing for a V8.

Keep up the work, I'm sure the work/effort and time is more of a strain on you than those of us who are waiting in line. THANKS!
