You and me both... Craftsman on the left, full kit on the right, as found plus all the OOP Styline custom parts in the box.

  4. '57 'Bird was first year for 9" Ford rear. Prior used Dana 44 IIRC.

9” in 57, and the small bearing/axle combo for a Dana 45 in 55-56. A lot of those got changed out to the Dana 44 out of a truck or maybe the wagons. The purist on the bird site like to fry me for that.

Like the look of the Torque Thrust Originals and the 55 top.

Always glad to see another Bird come back to life. As others have said there's a lot of body work there and if you're not good at it now you will be when your done. You can find the original body specifications for all the dimensions. And take your time setting up a good jig or a frame dolly. I have owned my 55 bird since 67 and enjoy it a lot. It is no stocker and I'm no purist, I tend to like them all. FYI, your glass top doesn't have the porthole which means it may have been ordered that way. there is a lot less 57's without portholes! OK by me I'd leave it that way. My top came from a 57 and is also a non porthole version.

Always happy to see a baby bird saved. My '57 Bird , black, camel interior, 460 Ford big block,
Blue Thunder aluminum heads and intake, rack & pinion steering, four wheel disc brakes,
posi-trac, ac, power steering, Halibrand style knock off wheels.
Sometimes you don't know when to stop.
Always loved the little birds. Got my first one in 1977.
    Have had one since then.
