Had heard about this car before, a friends dad got it from an estate that was going to scrap it! We were talking one night nd he says his dad was going to sell it at the pleasanton swap met this summer. Told me what he paid for it, 1000.00, and had done a couple things to get her running like, gas tank, fuel pump, exhust, gaskets, tires and pulled the rubber mat and installed carpet. Other than that its still original, 61,000 miles. So I get a call last wednesday, if im interested i need to come take a look at it as there is another guy looking at it. Well last I heard he wanted 8500.00 and that was out of my range but I hadnt seen the car yet so I decide to go over and take alook. Couldn't hurt?

    Heres what I saw...[IMG]

The fact that somebody even thought to scrap that thing makes me sick.

Is that a factory 312? Only a small number of T-Bird Specials made, if that's one, grab it!

Nice car, but i'm betting that is an "eastern" Oregon car.

Wow, excellent score! I always thought the 2dr sedans looked more 'racy' than their HT brotheren. If that is infact the T-bird motivated option, double WOW. As slick as that thing is, I vote for wheels/tires only, if anything at all. Think preservation....:D

edit to add: I see it has chromes, good to go!

  11. i'm no expert on `57 Fords , but even $8500 sounds like a bargain to me

Well I did buy it, It comes home friday after he gets the new pipes on it. I guess it also has an issue with the trans that it would not go into park but otherwise shifts fine. This car is in/from the portland or area. It was garaged all its life from day one. Even has a local High school parking sticker in it, not sure of the year yet. There is zero rust our in the body only minor surface scratches. IT's really sweet car. I have always like the 57 customs but only found rusty ones. The 8500 isnt too bad but i got it for bit less so all the better. Cant wit to cruise this baby, Its turn key! Im not sure on the motor yet but chances are it's the 292. It came with a 2 bbl. The guy changed it to a 4bbl. Plans are to just do some clean-up and detail work on it and preserve it the way it is. "Maybe" some disk brakes in front but thats yet to be seen. It will for sure get driven!

Looks awesome and very straight, it's a shame people would ever think about scrapping something like that...

Don't know why anyone would want to scrap it. Great score.
