Hello everyone, my name is Jeff McCain, I`m from Greensboro NC and have been working in the automotive field since 1962 when I got my first car, a 1949 Plymouth.
My brother Steve and I operate McCain Auto Glass in Greensboro, and when we`re not working on customer`s cars, we are building cars for ourselves.
After many years building and restoring Corvettes, we decided to go in a different direction. We now build many different types of cars that range from a 1937 Studebaker to a 1950 Nash, and I`ve been building a P-38 belly thank race car.
If you would like to see how to UN-chop a `32 Ford Tudor or make sidemount fenders for a `38 Buick, or put late-model suspension under a `30s car, check out our website,http://www.mccainautomotive.com There is no advertising, we just have it so car guys can see what we`re doing and how we do it.

  15. Welcome, from a Raleigh boy currently living in exile in Richmond, VA. That's what happens when you marry a Richmond girl who went to Meredith College. Nice cars you have there.

Thanks for the great welcome, I welcome anyone to visit our shop. If you live in the area just stop by or give us a call. We`re located in Greensboro at 300 Prescott Street.
To answer a few questions, I won`t be able to make to the meet at Maxton, I`m going to have surgery Monday so I`ll be out of commission for a while. The car may not be completely finished this year, but there`s no reason to get in a hurry now, I started on it in 1994. Here are some pictures of the start of this project when I was a lot younger. Back then there was no internet and I couldn`t find a tank so I made my own.

Welcome! Your stuff looks great. I have meet a lot of great metal fabricators from N.C. must be some thing in the water.

  23. Welcome from New Zealand. You guys do some amazing work!

A quick question: The customized Vette front end pic you have in your first post looks remarkably like a custom from the late '50s. Is that one you built or is it a resurrected ride? Yesterday's Youth wants to know. (I've always been fascinated by where old hot rods and kustoms end up many moons later...)

    Look at my website www.mccainautomotive.com
This is not the car that George Barris customized in the `50s. It was done in 1959 by Buster Dobbs . It was in very poor shape when my brother rescued it in the early `90s. It was sold at the Barrett-Jackson auction at Scottsdale several years ago.
