I love the style of those cars.
They look like they're going fast even when they're standing still!

My grandma had a dark green one 50+ years ago when I was a wee lad. I have to smile every time I see one. Great score :)

Awesome ride! Whereabouts in Petaluma did you find it? I'm sure there's more undiscovered gold in some of those Petaluma chicken coops! Buff out the paint, cut a coil or two and slap on some Radar's. Thing will look wicked! I'll be watching for it around town.

Nice car to jump back in the game with! Clean it up, get it safely running, stopping. Lower it and get some cool wheel covers or wheels and drive the wheels off of it!! Have fun!

I found it over near the Palace of Fruit. The story's actually kind of funny. Back in March my wife and I went on a trip with my parents and I saw a '59 Buick. I commented that I always wanted one and that I could not remember the last time I've even seen one. My dad tells me he knows where one is. I go by and ask about it and the dude tells me they are about to put the farm for sale (it belonged to his parents and they passed away) and that the barns all needed to be cleaned out. That's the luck part. He showed it to me, said he'd take a grand for it so I paid him cash right away to seal the deal (I know that if he thought overnight the price would rise).

That rust on the bumper is a bad sign. I tell you what, I'll give you 2 grand to take her off your hands.

  16. In the 70's, there was a short lived tv show featuring a Navy sub that was painted pink, with a bunch of attractive girls on board. Wonder what the sub was called..
Your lady looks really happy. Future generations may think that's a cell phone charging port in the setback! Dad had a LeSabre with an ash tray so big and chrome that a pipe smoker would have loved it. Cool car for sure. Engine photos please!

Parts to get her in tip top shape should be easy the only thing hard to find for her is a big enough parking spot!

Great score! You will have way more fun than the K you spent on it!
Did you get the skirts? I'll bet that's why the rear caps are in the trunk.

    Great looking car!!!
Ok, lets talk about the black California license plates on the car. In order to retain those black plates, that plate MUST be listed on the car's title *or* an old registration card. In other words, The plate number must be tied to the VIN. So if you can prove those plates were on the car, you can keep those plates. DO NOT surrender those plates!! If you go to the DMV and you get push-back, ask for a supervisor or collect your paperwork, leave and try another DMV.
FYI, using YOM plates or new DMV-issued black plates will cost you an additional $50 per year in registration. Doing what I describe above cost $0 extra per year in registration.
My advice --> skip the DMV and go a one of the HAMB-approved registration services. If back-DMV fees are due, you will probably save money.

BTW, that car is called a "survivor". IMO, best to be cleaned up and left as-it, while taking care of it, maintenance and replace stuff like weather stripping. That paint will definitely buff out.

  26. Sea Tiger. Show was "Operation Petticoat", based on a 50's movie with Cary Grant and Tony Curtis.

This car is awesome. Unbelievable shape really.

In regards to the plates, I have every registration since 1960, plus, wait for it...they have paid the non-op since parking it.

And here's the requisite engine shot. I had time this morning before work to throw a battery in her. All the lights work, dome light, horn honks, all dash lights, trunk and glove box light all work. The only thing that wouldn't turn on was the radio.
