New guy from MN. just moved to So. Cal.

    Hi Guys,
    A buddy of mine in MN. turned me on to the H.A.M.B about a year ago and between moving and all it took me awhile to post this. I was introduced to cars in the early 60’s by an older cousin :cool: (’57 Olds J-2 mild custom, candy blue, shaved, decked, door poppers, chrome reverse, etc.) when he went into the Navy (just ahead of the police) in ’62 he offered to sell it to me but my dad said NO you’ll kill yourself! I was 13 or 14 and may have been right. LOL
    I went to Minnesota Dragway with my cousin before he left and got hooked on the Drag Racing. Shortly after that I started building a ’27 Chev., (’54 Chev. running gear) with a friend my age. If that beater didn’t kill me nothing will! We built a couple cars together and many more on our own. I can’t tell you which one was my favorite, but a very interesting one was a ’54 Hudson Hornet flathead 6, bored to 327 Chev. pistons, and a Hank the Crank 5/8” stroker, 365 cu. in., (redlined at 3,800). A handmade 4 barrel intake and equal length headers. The rest of the goodstuff was from Jack Clifford and a lot of help from my buddys. A fun car, I parked under the apple tree in my parents backyard when I went in to the Army in ’68. When I came home on leave I sold it to a guy in So.MN. who put the engine in a stock car and killed everybody for years in the flathead class. Wow, I haven’t thought about that stuff in a lot of years!
    I’m currently putting the final touches on a 1950 Ford Woodie.

    Anyway I’m looking forward to sharing, getting and giving help from the guys on the H.A.M.B and on my next project.
