Hello everyone! Hopefully I am on the right forum and posting in the right spot. I just picked up a 1953 chevy 210 deluxe last night. It is my first venture into the world of American classics. Before this, my oldest vehicle was my 1969 Nissan Patrol.

I am actually planning on doing something a bit different with this - a drift car build. I think the hardest part will be custom front end suspension and steering work to achieve quicker steering and more steering angle. I wanted something unique and different in the drifting world, to make people go "WTF?!"

I look forward to this project, but most likely wont start until my new barndominium house is built. I know I will have tons of questions, and I hope you can help!

    based on the ID tags....

    Deluxe Series 210
    built in Atlanta, GA
    2 door sedan, 2102
Lt green - Dk green cloth interior
    Surf green paint, #498

Here's my first question....i have already tried googling for some parts, and it seems its very hard to find parts for a "210", but easy to find parts for a "Bel Air". Are most of those parts interchangeable? example, I am looking for new taillight sockets, and cant seem to find anything for a 210, but there is a ton of info on sockets for a Bel Air...

This site is dedicated to 50s style hot rodding. I don't think a drift car will go over well.

Let's see what happens, shall we?!?!

Well as far as the styling goes, it will keep the 50s styling. Under the hood and suspension will be different though....

I read the rules, and if its not period perfect, it said to post in the general forum I believe? That is why I said I hope I'm posting in the right area haha

  5. I would say all 53 taillight sockets are the same.

  7. Okay, well...no.
You must not have read the parts about suspension. A car is more than the outer skin and appearance.

Welcome. I have built a few 49-54 Chevys including 3 53's. (Although I'm not familiar with the drift concept) I only live about an hour from Huntsville and have a lot of parts from past builds. All Bel Air molding will fit a 210. 210 and Bel Air only refers to the trim level. I posted a pic of my last 53 Build. It's 210 Coupe with Bel Air quarter panel molding and 54 tail lights.

FYI, Dorman 85860 is a perfect fit tail light socket. $4 at O'Reilly!

I think I've seen that car before, did you ever bring it over to Jasper to any of the CARS shows?

    A drift car?
You do know those cars used to drift all over The Southeast with their stock suspension, every Saturday Night at the dirt tracks?
