Hi all. Been lurking on this site for a while now. Lots of good info here. Decided to finally join today. Just bought this beauty a few weeks ago. 1963 Galaxie 500 . Previous owner put a 460 in it. Sat in a garage for 25 years. I drove it onto the trailer....barely. Rebuilt a Holley 700 for her and put on an intake manifold, HEI distributor and a 1 wire alternator. Replaced the fuel tank, pump and lines as well. Runs mint. Paid $1500 for it. Still have to go through the brakes and about a dozen other things before she’s road worthy. Metal is straight and has very little rust. Thank you to whoever checked the undercoating box at the dealership. I feel like I stole it. Soon to be wearing SEM trim satin black and doing one wheel burnouts on Hurst white wall cheater slicks. Nice to meet you all. Let me know what you think. Vinny on Long Island
I’ve always really liked the ‘63 models. Good score. Never did understand why people insist on doing ‘burnouts’ though. Nice car, have fun and welcome. Ray
Great car looks good Lots of parts available, a lot of bolt on goodies for it also ( disc brakes off a Lincoln ( mid 70’s ) work You can change the pumpkin and get posi under it for cheap also Have fun!! 460 is a big ‘ol engine for that thing she should ride nice!!
Talk to me about obtaining a cheap posi bro. I would like to make that happen. Peg legs are for pirates.
You can swap out just the pumpkin, Center section, chunk , what ever you want to call it Did it on a buddies 64 used a Lincoln Center section from I believe 72-79 work with axles and all Also the front brakes will swap from one of these Lincoln’s to your car as well They are great cars, yours sounds happy!
