New to the site. New to me also to the old school car scene. Looking forward to be here. Great looking cars from what I’ve seen so far. Glad to share and gather a wealth of knowledge from all the “HAMBER’S” here.
Just found out my grandpa who has passed for about 10 years had a Mercury. Although a two door. I took some pics of some old photos to share. Not sure what year Mercury or Ford? Please let me know what year and model it is. Thanks.
Thanks for replying. I wasn’t sure, I was told it was a Mercury. The taillights were throwing me a curveball.
I am getting ready to chop the frame and get rid of the front independent suspension. Not sure if anyone would have any use for any of the parts, otherwise going to my scrap trailer bin. Straight axle will be ordered soon from Speedway Motors. I will extend out the frame with bent channels to form the tube frame. Can’t talk me out of it now , lol.
So, you don't want anyone to point out the inconvenient reality that not all gas class race cars had straight axles? I understand...carry on.
Slopok is right. The Chevy is a much better choice to build a gasser style car. Bigger, heavier 4 door cars were never the choice of gas class builders.
All information is useful. I do like the look of the straight axle cars though. Didn’t I point out I was new to this^? Lol.
i dig it! too bad i was m.i.a. for a chunk of last year, i wouldve been interested in that front end! what part of oregon you in? keep posting! i wanna see where this goes!
Still working on it when I can. Here is a link to the build. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...is-straight-axle-streetfreak-project.1117439/
