I posted a thread (New bullet for the Falcon) about a SBC build and install. Now I am trying to go big. Had enough parts laying around to build a BBC. 30 over stock type 454, flat top pistons, 049 oval heads with big valves, port work, spring upgrade, Lunati 6.20 solid flat lifters.

Got the heads cleaned up and checked valve springs, good for the Lunati spec. of 142# seat and 420# open @ .620 lift. Big valves, 2.25 intake!

I've always adhered to the saying, "The only logical replacement for a SBC is a BBC":cool::D

Sounds like a great idea to me! I went with .040" over on the 454 I put in my '63 Falcon, with Edelbrock Performer oval port aluminum heads, Weiand tunnel ram, and twin 600 cfm Holleys. Scoots right along for me.

Extra large filter to make up for the cut down oil pan.

Maybe someday I'll show the crowd this view of the headers!

Got it fired up today. Sounds bad ass, at least in the barn it does.
Got a few details to take care of and will be ready for test run Sat.

I bet it sounds good and loud. Did you change the rear axle gear yet?

My trip to the strip went ok but not great. Definitely too much gear. top speed at 6500 was 105. some blow-buy problems (need better vents) few other tweaks to make. Ran 11.60 @105. Was going to change gear etc. this week for the Detroit Reunion May 11 but my back went out!! If I recover and my son gives me a hand I may make it. Was planing to have him drive anyway.

Sorry. Missed the question on headers. I used Tri 5 Patriot BBC headers on mine.

The trip to Milan wend well. 11.36 first run with weight added. We run index so had to decide to either slow to 11.50 or try to go faster, 11.00. Decided to take out the ballast and pass. seat, about 150 pounds. Went 11.18 hitting the 6500 rev limit at 109 mph. Decided to go for it with 7000 rpm chip went 11.12 @116. Got treed the first round but overall a good day. Mac's Motor city Garage covered the event nicely.
