couple of pics of the new purchase. 1931 Ford Model A Coupe

Coupe was up for sale here in the classified adds so flew out(from the UK) to Texas to have a look.
A busy day but managed to get it all sorted. It’s at the shippers and will hopefully be back home to share the garage with the 40 Coupe.

Ralph was a great guy and could not have been more helpful.

Thanks. It’s been a tiring couple of days but it’s worth it to know what your buying.
Just got to wait 4-6wks before it’s home.

Going to be a slow build in a 60’s style with a 68 327 Chevy

Gee, and I thought getting my '50 F1 in California while living in Iowa was a long way! :)

    Keep us posted.

    WOW ! Nice Coupe !
Sounds like your gonna build a real Hot Rod out of it :D

Are you already collecting parts to build it?

Don’t have any parts at the moment. Don’t have time to get any while I’m here either. Landed last night and fly home tomorrow.
Going to be a slow build with no set timescale. Reckon I’ll have it out on the road for next summer.

Congrats. I talked to Ralph on the phone about the coupe and you're right he is a great guy. Told me all about the car, good and bad - although there wasn't much bad about it IMO. Glad it went to a good home.

He couldn’t have been more helpful today. With his help, I hired a trailer and we got it across town to the shippers compound. It’s all sorted and it’s now just a waiting game till it arrives.

    1940Coupe...

Very cool ! I love it ! You could probably sell some of the parts you intend to strip off of it to help pay for your next trip over here ;)!

    Best,

Had an email yesterday to say that it’s on it’s way over already.
All being well it should be here about 11th July.

Can’t wait to get my teeth into this. That is of course after I’ve picked up my 40 Coupe from the engine builder. Pick that up next Tuesday, followed by a 200mile drive home

  21. Not much hope of driving it home. I like to do that when I can, the last 51 I bought was too torn down and many parts to do that. I started on the body work and got the one side done, driving it now and will do the other side body work, paint and interior next Winter.

Lots of rod/custom projects going on in Great Britain!

Are there some 'Auto Wreckers' thereabouts (in U.K.) that might have a Chev engine/transmission? Or is it 'find in U.S., and get someone to ship it?'

Must admit it was a bit bit weird calling someone else by my name.

They’re are quite a few over here and you’d be quite surprised how many there are.
Engines are not difficult to get hold of but are probably more pricey than over there.
There are a few people around the UK that break down vehicles but most of the stuff we buy is from the US. Plenty of people specialise in shipping parts over but a lot of people just get it sent over themselves.

Quick shot of the motor that’s going into the 31 Coupe
Standard 67 327ci SBC with the addition of 3x2 Holley 94’s on a Vintage Speed intake.

Unsure wether to leave the carbs on that intake or put them on an Edelbrock 3x2
