We have welcomed a new addition to our family last week. It has been a long time coming for my dad. I am so happy for him. Anywho, the new addition is a 1949 ford business coupe. It has a flathead with a 3 speed and overdrive . He had one as a kid, and now at almost 70, he finally has another. It is black with gray interior , and red steel wheels with blackwalls. That is soon to change though with wide whitewalls, chrome reverse wheels and 50 merc caps. Interior wise now has a moon tach, 3 gauge cluster from moon as well, and a moon gas pedal. Engine wise, looking into using edelbrock finned heads as well as a 3 deuce setup. It already has headers, so that's a start. I am trying to figure out how to post some pictures as I am on my phone writing this .
I'm glad your dad was able to get something he's always wanted. Especially with Father's Day around the corner. Be sure to post some pics after he makes it his.
Thank you! He is very happy with it. He has been after this coupe for over a year. He just installed the tach, gauges and pedal last night. His 49 when he was a kid had the same.
of course you realize 49-50 merc hubcaps WILL NOT fit 49-50 Ford wheels, right? I have 12 for $150.00 plus shipping and will send 13, a baker's dozen..
And.........'49/'50 Merc wheels will not fit the Ford. Different wheel bolt pattern.....Merc is 5 x 5 1/2".........Ford is 5 x 4 1/2". However, I think one (or more) wheel vendors has repro Merc hubcaps is two sizes (diameter) that might work around that problem. The contours of the Ford wheel is also a more convex shape vs the Merc centers being a bit 'flatter'. I really love the Merc caps and hope you are able to find a satisfactory solution to mounting them. Great looking car, by the way. Congrats to your Dad for acquiring it. Ray
