When is the pattern getting made? Shell core box(es)? What do you estimate the cost on the tooling to be?

Yes, the carb will certainly sit higher than an oem. We have given careful consideration to all of the various aspects of making a new manifold and carb height is on the 'most-important' list. Because there are a multitude of carb designs we cannot guarantee that every combination, with an air cleaner, will clear every hood, but we have tried to make it work for the majority.
As to your 354, if you want a performance intake then open the throttle bores on your iron intake to match the Holley pattern. It works small miracles and doesn't cost $500....

Patterns are in the works now. Costs are proprietary.

Is it going to be a shell core box or multiple shell boxes for the runners and water passages?

Many of us B body owners supplied hood clearance dimensions. My '62 Dart wagon measures 4.25" from the top of the 2bbl carb to the bare hood skin.

Here's what Gary P have to say on the measurements:

Yeah, I did open up my stock intake.

The point is just that people - buyer and sellers - get excited over new intakes and there's never much talk over whether or not it will fit under a hood. That's why you see guy with 9" tall Chevy cowl hood scoops on mint condition 12,000 mile '57 Adventurers.

How many of the 100 presale orders are filled at this point?

Are you making a master to send out and have a matchplate made? Or just making a urethane pattern and mounting it on a plate?

I ordered mine yesterday, and if it means anything, I was assigned order number 1001.

At this point all of the pattern work is being handled by the foundry that will cast the parts. 'He' has the folks that he likes to work with and 'we' are only interested in the final product...how he gets from point A to point B is not our focus. I don't want to appear secretive but I'm not in charge.

Are you doing the machining, or is the foundry delivering machined parts?

What kind of production run do you expect to see? An initial batch of 100 followed up by 25 - 50 at a time as demand dictates?

And how many of the 100 presale manifolds have been sold?

I'm just very interested in this project.

Pulled the trigger and placed my order today. With shipping and gaskets it ends up being $500. Hopefully the tax return arrives before the credit card bill.

The $399 manifold price ends on Saturday, FYI.

I had a Weiand years ago--paid $200 for it, and have kicked myself for selling it for $400. If the new one is any good, I'm now gonna consider myself ahead. I still have an Edelbrock 3x2 stashed away, but the 4BBL just makes life easier...

  15. I have tried a few times to call them without success.......does anyone have a phone number that works?........I'm calling from Australia, btw..............andyd

Don't be discouraged...the first manifolds have not yet shipped. There have been many 'fine-tuning' sessions to make sure that the manifolds are as close to perfect as humanly possible before sending any out the door. Target ship date is only days away at this point.
Yes, it has been a long process and yes, it has proven to be very expensive.
There are some other 'very special' 318Poly pieces being considered if that engine is your favorite...stay tuned.

HAVE ANYONE EVER SEEN A 6-71 BLOWER MANIFOLD FOR A 318 POLY?

Probably have to make one if I go that route...

Just a FWIW update for the Poly heads.
Getting manifolds 'out-the-door' has been a real challenge, but the efforts are paying off and 'regular' folks are starting to get busy turning those old 'boat-anchors' into something awesome.

This report, and details, will be in the next issue of CPM:
More specific news to come but Bill Maurits is the first to come back with specifics on his new Poly SS-X 392 stroker engine... 405hp/472 torque... bent EVERY intake valve with his Racer Brown .470 cam... We're seeing a real positive learning curve here and Bill will detail ALL the NEWS, weather and sports in the next issue of CP... as well as updates here on Poly SuperPAC... Its clear that we can continue to fine tune this combo probably approaching 425hp/500torque... Street Motor! Way to go Bill!!!
